No. Fans were not as upset that he went to Miami, but blew a gasket when he announced he was going to coach at one of the fiercest rivals of LSU, Alabama. Saban would have liked to come back to Baton Rouge but unfortunately Les Miles had his old job, thus he took the Alabama job and the rest is history. Imagine if Drew Brees had passed the physical at Miami?

No shite. But, let's remember that, according to prevailing wisdom, LSU fans never blamed Saban for accepting the Bama job as Ole Miss fans are blaming Kiffin.
Also, LSU was never, ever, absolutely not in any way whatsoever in the history of college football, up until that point, a rival of Alabama, much less a fierce rival.
These types of statements are ignorant, easily disproved, and do nothing to advance any flimsy argument you may have had.
LSU granted themselves a rival status, still not accepted by many Alabama fans, with Alabama only after Saban arrived in Tuscaloosa.
Up until that point in time, LSU was basically a complete nobody to Bama and Bama fans and had never been given so much as a second thought in the history of their competition with each other.
Trying to rewrite any history timeline, for some bizarre reason, to make it seem as if Bama or LSU considered each other rivals before Saban came to Alabama is ridiculous idiocy.
LSU was a rival of Saban, not Alabama, due to the nasty and uncontrolled hatred and animosity all of you felt for him.

I think I know what is happening. LSU fans who may be around 27 or 28 years old were only 8 or 9 years old when Saban arrived at Bama.
Those who are 19 or 20 years old now were just being born or maybe a year old.
So, for a great many current LSU fans, they were in 2nd or 3rd grade when Saban arrived at Bama or not born yet.
For them, all they have ever known is hatred and murderous, blood curdling hostility shown by their ignorant parents towards Saban and Bama.
They may actually believe that LSU has always been a "rival" of Alabama. It is not their fault they think it was always that way.
