Texas A&M fans are starting to learn what OU fans meant when they said “it’s not THAT he left, it’s HOW he left”

Fans always say this but there really is no good way to leave.

If you want to compare it.......

It's leaving a present employer without any type of notice or goodbyes, and, starting a new job with an employer's rival the very next day.

I'll see you tomorrow, no you won't

When should he have given "notice?"

You give notice in the real world to give your employer the time to find a replacement, in a lot of industries however, a lame duck is useless. Coaching is one of those industries.

There are much better ways than either did.

Also for LR, if you watched all the games that year and then watched them with the knowledge LR had made his decision a few months prior - it makes more sense. Several head scratching decisions and then the last game he just needed to beat osu to get in B12 title game. Several strange decisions and a close loss later and the next day he was gone. It made more sense then, he could not afford to win and extend the season. And it would have been bad to make that game and leave before.

In this case last night at least wait a few days and let their fans enjoy making finals. And no matter what, going to a conf foe is flat out wrong. I hate both programs lol, and both are losers in this. tx will hate dealing with the never ending hatred for years, and will never win it all with him (baggage gets heavy).

So this one move will provide us a few decades of bitter hatred between the two. Love it!!

This wasn't about money. Sure he is going to get a big deal but A&M would've matched or beat any offer. He didn't even give them a chance
October.

He got to college Station and realized how deep the weird really is, so he was bailing.

Not really.

That's a prime example of confirmation bias, I can guarantee you that no Oklahoma fans were suspecting that LR was leaving based on those supposed questionable decisions.

Coaches make questionable decisions all the time.

You were all shocked when he left.

That's a terrible idea. The portal window is closing and he has a new team to build, he needs all the time he has.

On the A&M side, they need all of the time possible to hire a new coach and let him start working on his roster.

This was a step worse than Tubberville's pine box
The Pine Box thing is the only instance that comes close, and this one still blows it out of the water.

Ole Miss had just gotten off of probation vs. Auburn was a year removed from playing in the SECCG.
- A&M lost the CWS by one run
- Texas was playing in Omaha 2 years ago and the season before that.

Tuberville's biggest achievement at Ole Miss was getting them ranked in the 20s for a bit and winning the Motor City Bowl.
- Schloss just had A&M playing for their first national title in any major sport since 1939.

Ole Miss and Auburn were both in the West, but they weren't really rivals. Ole Miss and Auburn had little history prior to the establishment of the divisions.
- I don't need to recap the history between A&M and Texas.

Bowden had been fired/resigned during the season and Auburn had Brother Bill Oliver as interm coach. Everyone knew they were going to be looking for a HC especially since Oliver stayed up in the box after being named interim HC.
- Although it was assumed Texas would be firing David Pierce, it wasn't official until the CWS finals.

Tuberville and the Pine Box was in a higher profile sport, but I don't think that is enough to overlook the other differences.

Here's a good question:

Does the program have an interim, or, did Schloss practically clean house that Alberts has to be a front man until a replacement has been found?

No need for an interim now that the season is over, you just need a replacement ASAP.

The fact that there isn't even serious smoke yet about potential replacements makes me believe that A&M was caught flatfooted by the departure.

And now with the transfer portal, this might be an urgency to "beat the clock" to prevent any further damage from happening to the roster; replenish the roster since they have several high draft picks.

Has the conference schedule for next year been finalized? Scholssdouchenozzle will need 24/7 armed security if the Longhorns have to play 3 in College Station. Somebody might seriously try to take him out.

I’m not even sure Trev is savvy enough to understand how important getting someone good in quickly is. Byrne got a lot of grief but he was right about one thing, he always had a short list of 3 names for every sport for just this scenario that was refreshed every year.

I obviously hate to admit it, but Texas baseball has a top 3 history, is located in a big city, and can pay at much as A&M can. If that's where his heart is, then I hate it, but can accept it. It's his life.

What floors me is all the other completely unnecessary shite he's done. It would have been a piece of cake to tell Chris del Conte "my current employer is in the national title, give it 3 days before you can your coach" so that he didn't create a huge distraction for his team before the biggest series of their lives, but he didn't even bother. He was already doing what was best for his new program (and the gain for Texas was infinitesimal). Then the rant he leveled at that reporter plus the shite he said in his press conference today...?

I get it's a job and coaches are working for a check. I do. But A&M bent over backwards to support him and give him the resources he requested, and he returned the favor by screwing us every way he could on the way out the door.

I feel bad for A&M. Their fans deserve better. They will find a coach who wants to be their.

No interim. I'm assuming Targac is trying to hold it together, but he's a player that has been a base coach the second half of the year.

Sure...

But let's break down exactly why OU fans were pissed at Riley. And I'll even leave out the speculative part about how Riley wasn't "all in at OU in 2021 because he was already planning to go to USC."

1) Riley's deceptive comment the day before he left when he said "I will not be the next head coach at LSU"... that was wrong and very similar to what the Schlossher did.

OU fans would have been a lot less angry of Riley had just told reporters he wasn't going to discuss other jobs as he and his team had just lost a tight Bedlam game.

And the main thing that OU fans were pissed about. Riley ran off Rattler. Then while we were able to keep Caleb Williams for the bowl game... He and Williams kept OU in limbo and at the very last minute... Williams bailed and went with Riley to USC.

That is why OU fans were pissed. Since then OU fans have been ridiculous in exaggerating how bad Riley left the program... but OU fans have every right to be mad about how he left.

He also bolted ahead of your team moving to the SEC. It was viewed as being scared to face tougher competition
