GOAT season
Just an impressive passing game. Nothing else on the team close to GOAT.

Yes, it's funny you expect me to read all that Auburnesque rationalization.

LSU has the GOAT resume, beating five of the Top 10 teams in the postseason AP poll by an average of 19.6 points. So, I'll agree to disagree with you on that one.

Still think Nebraska 95 is the GOAT but there are aspects of LSU's 2019 season that are better than Nebraska's.

But ... and this is just for the record ... Nebraska's dynasty was built on "partial qualifiers" and steroids. We all saw what happened to them when they joined the Big XII and they were forced to play by the rules.

NFF and FWAA don’t and never held the same weight as the AP and UPI/Coaches.

When it came to split national titles, no one was out there saying, “we have a shot to win a split by being FWAA or NFF national champions.”

NFF and FWAA also never conducted weekly polls.

I don’t think Iowa claims or boasts about being 1958 national champions. They finished 8-1-1 and received the FWAA honor. LSU went 10-0-0 winning the AP and UPI before finishing 11-0-0.

Nope. Alabama has the AP and UPI/Coaches poll

Call it a split if you want. We won’t argue.

Some Yale team went 16-0 like in 1890something

We should also get an international championship for winning that bowl game in Cuba

We did? Let's see...in 1996 they made it to the Big 12 Championship Game, just a victory away from playing Florida State for a potential threepeat. In 1997 they won the Big 12 and a share of the national championship. In 1999 they won the Big 12 again and finished #3 in the polls. In 2000 they were pre-season ranked #1 and in 2001 they made it to the national championship game.

It was only after they stupidly fired Frank Solich after going 10-3 in 2003 that their problems really began.

In the poll era, before Saban, LSU had 13 top 10 finishes beginning in 1936 through 1988, and had at least 1 top ten finish in every decade from the 30s through the 80s. LSU finished in the top 15 an additional 7 times, and the top 20 an additional 3 times. Even Dinardo had two top 15 finishes in the 90s. In the poll era before 2000, LSU had 6 SEC Championships, not bad for an irrelevant team. Saban certainly put LSU on the path to its current success, but LSU was not an historically irrelevant team before Saban.
