The problem with this POD System as it stands, and I Will repeat as someone North of 50 who has followed the SEC and College ball a long time.

4 Historic Non-negotiable SEC games in no particular order are

1)Auburn/UGA
2)Bama/Auburn
3)Florida/UGA
4)Bama/TENN

I agree. This is the problem with 4 team pods..
All other games can be played.

If you do 4 team pods, 1 of 3 things will happen:
1) You also have a permanent game outside of your pod
or
2) The Georgia vs Auburn or Tennessee vs Alabama Game will not be played every year
unless
3) That game is played OOC in years that it isn’t scheduled in conference.

It’s as simple as that with 4 team pods. 5-6 team pods do work however.

How could it be better? Personally I like the idea of playing every team at least once every 2 years.

I'd rather see Tennessee in Pod A with UGA & Florida. USCjr can suck a lemon.

That breaks up Auburn and Georgia playing every year, thus it will not work.

I think the 8 team divisions and 7-2 rotation format is more likely than the 4 PODS that the SEC network proposed, which as I noted is a non-starter.

That’s what I’ve been advocating. Bama and Auburn move to the East. All the old rivalries are maintained and the old ones can renew (Aggie-TU and Arkansas-TU).

The whole visit everyone every 4 years stuff is dookie. No one wants to do that. Playing everyone over the course of 4 years is good, visit them every 8. Pods are queer.

Good idea, but how are you using this? If you play your pod mates + 2 each of the other 3 pods, DSOR is now moved to every other year.

Puts that as a HELL NO from me!

Then MUST PLAY ANNUAL games:
TSIO (Ala./Tn.)
DSOR (Aub./Ga.)
WLOCP (Ga./Fl.)
IB (Ala./Aub.)
Egg Bowl (Miss./MSU)
Tn./Vandy
TA&M/Tex.

ESPN's pod image has scratched (at least) DSOR off that list & DOESN'T even acknowledge it in articles.

Slight improvement, imo:

Alabama: LSU, Tennessee, Auburn

Auburn: Miss St, Alabama, Georgia

Ole Miss: Miss St, LSU, Vanderbilt

LSU: Ole Miss, Alabama, Florida

Miss St: Ole Miss, Auburn, Kentucky

Texas: Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Arkansas

Texas A&M: Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma

Oklahoma: Mizzou, Texas, Texas A&M

Arkansas: Texas, Texas A&M, Mizzou

Florida: LSU, Georgia, South Carolina

Georgia: Florida, Auburn, South Carolina

Tennessee: Alabama, Vanderbilt, Kentucky

Vanderbilt: Tennessee, South Carolina, Ole Miss

Kentucky: Tennessee, Mizzou, Miss St

Mizzou: Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kentucky

South Carolina: Florida, Georgia, Vanderbilt

The following rivalries would be on a semi-annual basis:
LSU vs A&M
LSU vs Auburn
LSU vs Arkansas
Alabama vs Miss St
Florida vs Tennessee
Georgia vs Tennessee

That’s…acceptable, imo

Even though some matchups will be every 4 years?

Didn't claim to remember all of them. Just saying MUST PLAYED games are hindered with ESPN's pod example & the every other year.

I'm just shocked that SEC's oldest (LITERALLY) rivalry is IGNORED when that is discussed.

You know with divisions, you are playing everybody in 4 years......ONCE for the other division (full H/H in 8).

How? Not in the same pod as Aub. & swap out 2 teams from the other pods yearly.

Doesn't look protected to me.

You must be getting me confused with someone else.

3 perm games means you play all your rivals. The other 6 rotate.

There are no pods. The top 2 CFP teams meet in the ship.

I was going off the ESPN model everybody uses.

But to your idea...remove SC from Ga.'s 3 & replace with somebody else (like Vandy who we have a linger history with).
Also, don't want to create tie-breakers to sort teams due to lack of common opponents.

Pods are a joke. As there is no viable way to pick a winner without a conference playoff system.

It makes much more geographical sense to move Texas and OU into the SEC West and to move Auburn and Alabama into the SEC East.

That way Nick Saban will instantly make UGA and Florida his bitches.

While LSU will step into the top-dog role abandoned by Alabama. As all the top recruits want to play for the top dog and because no other head coach in the SEC West can recruit like Ed O can, then LSU will always get the greater bulk of those elite recruits.

Meanwhile, LSU and Alabama will still continue to play every year, but on a neutral field for the SEC Championship.

Then when the new 12-team expanded College Football Playoffs start up, both LSU and Alabama will be in it every year.

The Pod system not only sucks, but it is also not feasible for a conference that wants a real conference champion,

So having a real SEC conference champion isn't important to you. You just like to play everybody instead?
