"Bama barely lost to Tennessee as well as a lip biting loss to LSU. Tennessee should be ranked above them."

Read that again and see if it actually makes sense. TennerC won by three points in their home field advantage where AL was penalized 18 times and TennerC was penalized three. When the same thing happened to TennerC at GA, and they were in a hostile environment they shite the bed and got dog pounded by both the Bulldogs and the Gamecocks. It works both ways. On a neutral field that day Bama would have beaten TennerC. Golding had his head up his azz and allowed Hooker to drag his nutz all over the defense.

Exactly and they will look at Bryce Young playing through with an injured shoulder against Tennessee and LSU. He was about 60% in those games.

Because head-to-head competition, as much as fans who generally look no farther than W’s and L’s would like it to be, is not and never will be the committee’s sole determining factor in these situations. It’s that simple.

Rankings are based on how teams look RIGHT NOW. Tennessee lost their best player and would likely lose to Bama on a neutral field today. How is that so hard to understand?

Based on your thinking, LSU should be ahead of Bama also.

Bama lost 2 games to 2 ranked on the road by a total of 4 points. Tennessee lost 2 games on the road to 1 ranked team and 1 unranked team by a total of 39 points. Tennessee had the best O in the conference but the 4th worst D. Bama had the 4th best O and the 2nd best D. Which team would be more successful if they were to enter the playoffs?

If this is your logic then South Carolina should be ranked higher than Tennessee.

According to your "logic" Bama was one play from being undefeated.

If you don't understand it no one can explain it to you.

I suggest you watch more college football and after a while hopefully you will come to understand.

You really resorting to transitive properties? Then carry it through the entire schedule. On field does matter. That is why Alabama is ranked higher than UT. UT got steamrolled twice. That, believe it or not mattered.

I get it. We would be feeling the same, but I think most of us would also accept logic

Didn't Tennessee beat Bama? So what is your transitive property argument again?

ETA: I think Bama would win head to head right now, but the selection criteria clearly states that UT should be ahead.

At this point in time they are better than us. But we beat them on the field, what’s the point of playing the games then? Might as well put Bama ahead of TCU because Alabama is better on paper than them too. The complete inconsistency in the committees logic is horrendous.

I can see it both ways, I personally would have Tennessee ranked ahead of Alabama because when the records are the same I put more weight on H2H results, but I understand the other argument as well. Tennessee's loss to USCe was devastating, and they lost to two unranked teams. So given those two things cancel out it comes down to the all too subjective eye test, which is why TCU is ranked behind Michigan, even though they have a MUCH more complete resume. And the eye test says Alabama with its Heisman QB is a better team right now than Tennessee with HH out.

The committee has always said they rank as of today and also they take into account injuries. Guess they thought a team that pulled out a last second win at home with their best player is not as good today without him. Does it really matter? Neither team has a chance of getting into the playoff.

Have you been paying attention this year?? Do you really think there is no chance that KSU beats TCU (KSU played them tough in W. Howards first game replacing Martinez, he is MUCH better now) or that Utah beats USC (again). IF both of those things happen, Alabama could slip in.

The committee has made it “clear” before that loss of star players, where games are played, closeness, etc matters.

TN did just blow out Vandy without Hooker so idk.

Not sure it’s correct tbh given the LSU head to head.

Lack of respect is all I got.

Bama almost losing two other games gets washed over.

That's because wins aren't held against teams, even close wins. They never have been, for anyone, not that I can recall.
