Mahomes got called for a false start a few years ago without even clapping. Overselling the hard count can get you called for it.

In what way did he do this?

I don't know. Could have been something he said. There is actually a list of banned words a QB cannot give during a cadence. More than likely, he was warned about it by a ref & continued to do it.

That it is done on every hard count.

Was this during his college years?

Vague recollections don't count.

Link please.

What they called is supposed to be the rule, but it’s rarely enforced.

Fortunately, Kirby reminded the refs of the clapping rules so they knew to look out for it.

Pretty shitty way for a make-up call.

The one at Auburn got UGA a free timeout and was inconsequential to the game.

The one at Florida put us out of FG range and took a potential (likely) 3 points off the board in a game we were trailing.

It was NFL, i'm just telling you that it happens.

The ruling from the NCAA rule book is:
quote:

(c) The quarterback making any quick, jerky movement that simulates
the beginning of a play.

So there's precedent for it.

Back in the late 70s, there were two QBs that played for Leon HS in Tallahassee and later for FSU. Both of them were notorious for bobbing and weaving their heads before the snap. It took several years before the refs started calling them on it

This reminded me of them

I'm not letting this go. I want a detailed breakdown of what he did wrong.

I'm not letting this go until a mod anchors it. I'm gonna keep this on page one.

Again, it's impossible to know. If you've ever played football, you understand that first an opposing coach bitches about this to a ref, the ref warns the QB, when the QB continues to do it the ref throws a flag. This isn't something where the refs made up on the fly.

But the refs are protecting UGA. Why throw this flag and cost them a possible score? Is it part of a plot to make it appear they are fair?

The ball clearly bounces in that view and looked to not hit his arms.

A hard snap count by the QB to try to get the defense to jump offsides has been a part of football forever.

What is wrong with you? Just stupid? Or an actual learning disability?

That entire SEC crew was fired. Why was payback needed? The clapping thing vs Auburn resulted in UGA getting a free timeout, which was inconsequential to the game. The penalty against UGA in the Florida game took us out of FG range and cost us 3 points in a game we were trailing.

You are a dumb wannabe Cajun. No real Cajun is as dumb as you. The cajuns I know personally are smart reasonable common sense people. You are a fricking moron.

Exactly. In Stockton's case, it wasn't the clap, it was the way he bobbed his shoulders.
