Alabama won’t get in if they don’t win out, including the SEC championship game. The Crimson Tide still have a great team and may not lose another game.

Texas A&M has the best win in the country and could maybe get into the playoff if they win out (including the SEC championship game) and Alabama, Ole Miss, and Arky lose another conference game. However, their two losses are hard to overlook. They’ll need some help from other teams throughout the country losing a game or two as well.

Ole Miss won a tough game yesterday and is still very much alive in the playoff conversation based on how many highly ranked teams have lost. We will have to win out (don’t see this happening if our defense continues to play the way it did yesterday) and hope Alabama stumbles again.

Georgia can lose a close game and still get in handily. However, an unlikely team could keep the Dawgs out of the playoffs, and that team is……

Kentucky? Yep, the Wildcats are undefeated and control their own destiny in the CFP discussion. If they somehow go to Athens next weekend and pull off a monumental upset, and win out vs. a schedule that gets easier towards the end of the season, it would be exceedingly difficult to put Georgia in over an undefeated Iowa, Cincinnati, Michigan, Oklahoma, etc.

Even more wacky would be if Kentucky beats Georgia next weekend, then Alabama blows out Kentucky in the SEC Championship game. Add in Ole Miss somehow winning out, and you have four SEC teams with one bad(ish) loss. No telling what would happen then.

This has been the most interesting CFB season since the playoff structure was introduced in 2014. Let’s hope the back end of the schedule is as entertaining as the front end. The CFP is all about optics, and right now your guess is as good as mine when it comes to how the playoff will shake out. Good luck to everyone going forward.

These are different scenarios that obviously don’t happen simultaneously.

Did you just suggest A&M has a chance at the playoff? They didn’t beat Bama, Bama lost to them, and they will lose 2-3 more games this season. They can’t even win the west unless Bama, auburn and Arkansas/ole miss implode.

It’s a very big long shot scenario, but yes. Less than 1% chance it happens.

3 teams have a shot Kentucky UGA and on outside Bama the rest have little to zero of a shot.
