8 would be great. No more no less.

I agree with this all day long...expanding the playoff to get more teams in is just more pandering to teams who couldn't get it and want to change the rules so they will get in the next time...

Having 8 this year would have seen the B1G with three teams. They finished 5-5 in bowls this year and the losses were blowouts.

Yep. And we're also adding an extra game on top of the conference championship games. A school could end up playing 4 post season games. The national championship could be decided by a bunch of third stringers.
Nobody will agree to reduce the season. That's one less day that a stadium on campus won't be selling tickets, merchandise, reserving hotel rooms, filling skyboxes, etc. Schools will never agree with that.
Of course the moment we go to 8, the same people will be screaming for 16....in the name of fairness.

Wow. I didn't even know that. Is College Basketball this bad with regards to the Final Four?
Probably, but I don't know for sure.
The schools could subsidize the student ticket prices if they wanted to. Say offer them for $100-$150 and just eat the difference. I know some schools have done that for Final Four tickets. Alabama chose not to, but that's not at all surprising. THey're just as greedy as the NCAA and the bowl committees.
While I love all the winning with Saban as head coach, I can't wait for this bubble to burst. The whole thing has just made me too cynical to fully enjoy all of it.

I'll be okay if they extended it to six teams. Anything more than that is overkill IMO. I really don't want to see two loss national champions.
This. 6 teams, 1 & 2 get Bye-weeks and bring back the BCS computers to create the final poll to place the teams for the playoffs and take the human element out of it.

Eight
Five Power 5 champs
One Group of five champ (BCS standings?)
Two wildcards based on the BCS standings
Let the committee determine seeds
The higher seeds host round one.
No byes, the regular season has meaning, it would be easy to implement.
Round one would be Christmas day, the semi-finals would be the first Saturday after New year's, and the final could be the Sunday night before MLK day.

6 is the right number. Get rid of this useless fricking committee, every conference has a championship, go back to the BCS rankings, the top 6 teams after championship weekend go to the playoffs.
