NIL should not have been implemented before creating rules governing portal and eligibility.

The NCAA and schools had years to prepare for the NIL legal decision and have had 5 since NIL started. Very little has been set up.

I really don't think the schools care because 1) It really hasn't killed ratings/revenue 2) To put any real rules into place, they would have to make the players employees and they would collectively bargain.

Currently, all of these athletes are out for themselves and a divided group of people working for their self interest don't have as much leverage against the schools as a group that has unionized. I would bet the last thing the schools want is to deal with unions. The financial hit from a unionized group of players with more leverage is probably worse in their mind than the current chaos and band aid approach to the rules.

This is true. Nothing will change until viewership goes down (attendance is already down, but less of a factor). They keep increasing viewership year over year. Until that flips and goes down consistently, we won’t see any real fundamental changes.

Who the hell knows. The only thing enforceable are Grant of rights contracts for media revenue, it would appear.

Everything else they’re just flipping the bird

Not only are they already pros, but the UDFAs are making more in college than in the NFL.

Me:"C'mon you loser, catch the fricken ball!"

Kids mom behind me: "Hey, that's my son you're talking about. He only makes $25 per game from NIL deal with Wienerschnitzel"

Me: "My bad... insult redacted,"
