What are your thoughts on this?

Note: I'm not talking about getting caught with marijuana on their possession, simply testing positive for it on a drug test.

What disciplinary action would you say they deserve, if any?

IMO they shouldn't even test for it.

It's nanny-state bullshite. In line with the rest of the phony conservative mantra, which is always about legislative morality and never about freedom.

Pot should be legal. Was legal in the past - you used to be able to buy it at drug stores. I don't even smoke pot, but believe it should be legal. Also believe the FDA can burn in hell.

Weed leads to Heroin. Heroin leads to tattoos. Tattoos lead to gang membership. Gang membership results in being shot and killed.

Just say NO to drugs...and drink gin and tonics.

Thank you.

Football players take a fricking beating for schools and the NCAA that make millions off them.

Couldn’t care less if they smoked pot.

I think all sports should go the way of the NBA and not give a shite if they smoke a lil weed.

So the question remains: What should be the ramification(s) for student athletes who test positive for THC?

They should be forced to read a pamphlet about drugs. After their 10th failed test they should be forced to watch a film about drugs

Allman Brothers, good speakers, no one else in house.

Only argument one needs for legalization.

But I'm bumping this because Patrick being sent to rehab over marijuana and missing the playoffs is asinine
opiates (I assume pills) were involved too and are probably the bigger reason

This is my least-favorite argument for legalization. If it's to be legalized, it should be done so on its own merits. Why does it have to be taxed at all, beyond normal municipal sales tax?
You ever thought that making almost a billion dollars plus off the plant in one year isn't the main reason to legalize it? However money talks and Colorado has proven it can make this serious money all the while reducing crime rates, reducing other drug use, and still promoting responsible use of cannabis (obvious kids shouldn't smoke it, etc).

Obviously the biggest benefit of cannabis is through its medical uses, which many states today obviously backs it. Yet the federal govt lists cannabis a schedule 1 drug which is stated as having no medical value. Yet meth and morphine are schedule 2 which has some medical value.

Then consider for head trauma and there is a bunch of research showing the potential promise of cannabis to help protect the brain and help the brain repair damaged cells. There is a lot of research also showing promise in Alzheimer's, which cannabis can help reduce a certain protein in Alzheimer's patients, that has also been found in CTE brains. So yes, cannabis maybe can help find the answers for CTE. Another reason why it is so damn hypocritical of the NFL to keep banning guys from using weed. We saw how they about ruined Josh Gordons career for it. Yet you can pop all the pain pills you want and be fine. No wonder why many players are addicts to opiates or barbiturates.

It is many times over safer than alcohol and tobacco, and even water. You would overdose sooner off water than you ever would off cannabis. In fact, more people have died from water overdose than anyone has ever died from a cannabis overdose. The christian god is so good for giving us this plant!

And that’s fine—but it’s a different discussion.
At present, marijuana is an NCAA-banned substance.
Don’t like it? Don’t play NCAA sports.

Since the NCAA doesn't allow it, I'm sure no one is using it right?
