That's all in good nature. It's not disgracing the statue. Now if someone took some spray paint to it that would be over the top.
Updyke is in LA though, he's already facing a fine or possible jail time, why not go all out.

This pic (got our trees killed) and it was only done for a few minutes as they wanted their tshirt back.. LSU better be careful, I believe Updyke moved to your state...
