That wouldn't surprise me. I'm not high on Florida or McElwain at all.

I'm not that high on them either all the teams in the east can beat each other. Well except UT nobody can topple them according to their posters....

If it's like Alabama vs. Florida again, and Alabama is a heavy favorite and crushes them again, people are gonna start getting real salty and demanding some sort of shake up.

The majority of downvotes in this thread are from LSU fans. Fact.

That's every thread. They're an extremely sensitive and delusional bunch.

Phil used to pride himself on being one of the few to pick the team that most weren't expecting, as he did with 2003 LSU. Now he just copies and pastes Bama at the top of his list every year. Taking the safe route must get professionally monotonous.

In terms of returning production, which is generally a much better indicator than returning starters, here's where a few teams rank in FBS..

#107 A&M
#109 UT
#110 Ole Miss
#111 LSU

Literally near the bottom of the barrel in terms of returning production. The likelihood of any of these teams doing better than last year..nope.

South Carolina with Bentley and Kentucky are both better than people think

That is to say, SC and KY might upset somebody and thus affect the race in the East. Not that they will be a real threat to win it. The same is true for State and Arky in the west.

There is a reason it is the safe route. It generally takes a 7-1 season to win the west. There are at least three team that simply aren't likely good enough to do that.

Out of the four that could, three have questions at the qb position and lost at least three conf games each of the past three seasons. The other is returning the SEC OPOY at qb, coming off an 8-0 campaign and three consecutive SEC titles.

That's impressive on the surface, but the East has been really bad all around the last few years. On top of that seems like y'all have gotten pretty lucky with the timing of some games catching teams while they were cold.

I mean, Florida was also predicted to finish 3rd in the East the last 2 years, until this year. In years the East has been down, but Florida hasn't been predicted to run away with it. "Gotten pretty lucky", no need to even comment on this point as everyone in CFB tends to create their own luck.

Color me shocked. They actually picked Alabama to win the SEC? I am surprised they would go out on such a limb.

That was/is his "Surprise Team" pick. LSU was his #2 pick in 2003. Florida is his #1 pick and Miami is his #2 pick this year.
