quote:lebron is a crybaby bitch and the only reason he's at the top of any lists is because he's played in a league so soft you dont get banged up and worn out. Lebron is not a top 5 all time player, let alone the best
LeBron would run circles around him.

Pete would teach LeWoke a lesson on ball handling.

As an LSU fan I approve this message…

Knocked out first round with Shaq, Stanley Roberts and Chris Jackson...That's when I waved the white flag on LSU buckets

Pistol Pete did all that with no 3 point line and no shoot clock. Dale Brown went back years later and pulled the tapes of Pete.. Had there been a 3 point line he would have averaged around 59 a game

you misspelled Larry Bird

Yeah, because the GOAT is dead. Or is it because you're insinuating that because the color difference? But hey, I'm guessing you're not racist.

Only one SEC team got to go to the NCAA Tourney back then, Hint: It was always Kentucky

avg 44.2/ppg with no 3 point line and shot clock.
3,667 points in 3 years.
50+ years later many of his records still stand
Pistol Pete shouldn't be only remembered for his 44 points a game with no 3-point line. He was a whirling dervish that made impossible passes that only the greatest could try to emulate. Which they did, often, and every kid who stood on a playground with floppy socks was letting the no-look pass go.
There has never been another who played the game with that imagination and creativity. No one has come to replace him.

I say this as an LSU fan. The program has had pistol Pete, Chris Jackson and Shaq. No championships

FIFY
Nobody could play against him and Jordan or LeBron would lose 1 on 1
However, basketball is a team sport involving 5 players working together. Any team that did this beat LSU and why they never won a Natty.

Wow, 12 downvotes but no rebuttal. I’ll take my hot take.

Why did his success not translate well to the NBA. Obviously he played for a while before he passed, but aside from his 60+ game, it didnt seem like he put up big numbers

He was All Pro for 5 seasons, was Rookie of the Year his first season & led the League in scoring twice. Injuries hit him early on, reducing the number of games he played, and then later, he had to retire because of more severe knee problems. His 2 main teams, the Hawks & then the Jazz, were bad to horrible & he was double teamed most games, especially in the 4th quarters.

noted! thanks
I was looking back on some former Gamecocks that played in the league from our better teams. Guys like John Roche and Kevin Joyce. Trying to figure out why their skills didnt translate to the NBA as well.

I didn't mention race a single time. You sure did though. I wonder why?

True. Totally hypothetical. They’re all/were amazing players. But I will say that I think LeBron is a mental pussy and drama Queen compared to those guys.
