I believe Golding to be a fine coach and he’s shown the ability to manage a crisis situation (with a little help from Kiffin).
Someone posted earlier today when LSU fans would admit that Golding was a solid coach. Asides from having already done that, I would think this weekend would be another step towards showing what type of HC he is.
Getting your team past a HUGE emotional win like Saturday night can potentially be difficult.
It will be interesting to see his approach this week and how OM looks at game time.

saying he is great or bad is dumb at this point which was at the pinnacle of anything they have done in half a century also with brining back one of the best QB and RB in the country from last year. He took over a playoff program built by the last coach.
Larry Coker started his coaching career 24-0 with a national title and almost 2. People generally consider him not a good coach, but he took over a powerhouse and was able to win with those players but just couldn't sustain it when talent dried up.
Can Golding continue this success after the Kiffin players leave(if judges don't step in to just keep giving them extra years)? That is the question and we won't know for another year or two.
Chambliss is a top QB and would elevate any program in the country if they had him. Take him away and OM is 1-2 right now.

This is so true. You speak from a position of knowledge and strength. If you take away Sam Leavitt, LSU is 0-3 probably.
Like you, I've often wondered if say, 10 of the best players on each of Bama's many NC teams were suddenly not there, would they have even have won those NC's? Probably not.
Without good players, no team would have ever amounted to anything. Ole Miss fans have no room to talk when they win a game because Ole Miss would never win a game without good players. Duh!

Your team is top heavy, very dependent on the first string. The moment they go down or leave, your program will never recover.

I know Kiffin learned a lot from Golding, but still Golding is just better.

Well everyone told us that LSU's defense was elite, and Chambliss was a product of Lane and CW. So how did Pete roll up so many yards?
And our defensive secondary is absolutely horrible. Louisville torched us again and again. Yet Lane the QB whisperer and your $5 million QB and CW couldn't do anything through the air down field. I think you guys had one successful deep throw.
Pete showed something LSU was totally unprepared for.
And then there was the brilliant 2pt call that threw a wet blanket over LSU's final failed drive.
Not to mention all the stupid 4th down Go For Its that Golding didnt call.

Meh, I would say Kiffin countered Pete effectively in the second half, where great coaches make their bones.
I’m not sure what the stats looked like in that second half but it appeared that OM was shut down to a large degree.
I also believe OM fans are overlooking the crowd and the huge effect it had on that game. OM could have hosted Texas, UGA, ND or Indiana last Saturday night and if the atmosphere and personal animosity was matched, none of those teams would have left with a win.

And I would say it’s impossible to keep the sky-high adrenaline from that first half to carry over through halftime.
That’s pretty normal for a massively emotional game. The home team is jacked but that level of energy is not sustainable. Halftime favors the away team in this situation. Thankfully, we were able to settle back in for the fourth quarter.
