Pete Golding is odd

The numbers surrounding him are weird. He is obviously a very mid DC. The numbers back that up. Yet somehow his involvement at Ole Miss have been their best seasons since the 1960s
Since Golding arrived on campus in Oxford, the rebels winning percentage in (.837). Prior to him getting there, Kiffin winning percentage at Ole Miss was (.638).
Somehow he is a common denominator for a guy who doesn't really strike fear into any offensive coach.

The defense is still Swiss cheese bro. The stats are clearly misleading

Its almost as if he had a number of offensive geniuses keeping his deficiencies hidden....

Your defense hasn't had issues in coverage? Is that what you are suggesting?

Yes all of those offensive geniuses that scored 17 points against Kentucky in 2024 to blow a shot at the playoffs. Or maybe it was the offensive geniuses who scored 17 points against Florida when all ole miss had to do was score 24 and they would have gone to the playoffs. Defense let them down both games.

You only played 2 ranked teams during the regular season.

Lane took USC down to the shitter, so there is that as a counterpoint.

USC was put on probation as Kiffin was walking in the door.

Kiffin had been the coach for years by the time he got Golding. He had already flirted seriously with taking the Auburn job
Weiss Jr was also already OC when Golding was brought on. Golding brought something that translated to more wins. The numbers and timeline show that.

You’re talking ab 2 games out of how many?
How many points did Louisville score against your beloved defensive minded HC?

Two games that any competent offense would win. Two games that kept ole miss out of the playoffs. Lane knew the implications going into the Florida game and decided to start a 6th string receiver at RB.

“Just two games!”
Yeah one of which was their only SEC win of the season. The other, had a stud RB ride the bench for reasons that only he, Lane, and allegedly Lane’s daughter know.

I don't think so at all to be honest. He's above average.
This is what got me banned from the Alabama board. They tried to claim he was lazy, sloppy and all this other shite. And it's obviously false.
Because Nick Saban isn't going to put up with that shite. If he was lazy, sloppy and didn't know decent football, he would be gone quickly. We saw it with Tosh Lupoi.
He ran Nick Sabans system, and Saban obviously saw something in him worth developing further. I think he was hoping for another Kirby.
I just don't think you stick around Saban for 5 years including winning a national championship if you are "very mid DC".
Pruitt was probably my favorite DC due to his aggressiveness, but even he gave up big points sometimes.
