Because of its historical significance and Alabama being a juggernaut.
It has been completely uninteresting for the whole country for the last ten years. CBS subjects the nation to it. Time to move on.

There is only one school that has a longer losing streak to Alabama than Mississippi State. They also think that they are still a blue blood and Alabama is their rival.

Egg Zach Lee. That's the point I'm making, but these idiots keep plunging their heads back into the twentieth century.
The Vols are another 10 or more years away from beating Alabama. They are not a blue blood anymore. It is no longer a rivalry.

Some angry little girl keeps voting down my posts. Who could that be?

And, yet, it is a CBS game with far more frequency than the Egg Bowl or State vs. Bama.
I'm going to put a little more stock in that as a metric than the opinions of a few sidewalk State fans.

Go ahead, my friend. But as controversial as this thread is, based on the upvote ratio about 44% of users agree that TSIO is all but dead and the forced cross-divisional "rivalries" are silly. While it's not a popular opinion, I don't stand alone.

Bama sure does break out the cigars after the wins for it to mean nothing and have no tradition.
TN has been down no doubt. They had a couple good years under Butch that would probably match the best years of States football history

Well we did beat State last year and own the series after 3 terrible hires so year I’ll throw shade. Bama fans that didn’t go to school there is still the best to me.
No doubt we have been bad since the Petrino crash but Pittman will get us respectable in football again.
Also we are legit ranked top 10 in every sport besides football.
Athletic department strong at Arkansas.

"we did beat State last year".....you might want to raise your standards in the off the charts AD.

This scheduling format is absolutely idiotic.
Texas A&M joined the SEC and began play in 2012.
They will play their first game ever in Lexington as a member of the SEC in 2025.
That means if you were a first grader Aggies first season here, you will be a freshman in college when they play at Kentucky for the first time ever.
That is absolutely and unequivocally fricking idiotic.

Easy fix, have your head coach and AD insist we play 9 conference games. Like the B1G, Big 12, and Pac 12. The SEC has been running from this grown man schedule forever.

Alabama doesn't get to act like it's everyone else's fault. All the rest of us are stick with this shyt scheduling specifically because 4 schools couldn't give up 2 rivalries....Alabama Tennessee and Georgia Auburn. 10 schools being held hostage by 4. I'm on board with adding the 9th game, but I still want to rotate the West teams. I enjoy our annual matchup with State but it isn't a rivalry. We don't hate each other. If we did that we'd be playing Arkansas. I mean the easy solution is move Auburn to the East and Mizzou to the west, but yet again, the rest of us are all held up because then Alabama has to decide between the Barn or the Vols. The Tennessee game isn't even watchable anymore, they can't even beat us these days. I think Vandy has won 3 of the last 5 or some such. Just let it die so we can all move forward.

Let's not go that far- I think Tennessee's still won 7 of the last 10 or so, correct?

Divisions are dumb, just rotate the schedule annually. Then have the actual top two teams play in the conference title games. You'd be "expanding" the playoffs naturally and making championship weekend awesome.

LSU vs Florida has been a big game too. Alabama has been publically vocal about playing all the teams in the opposite division every 4 years so that every player gets to play everyone in the SEC. Coach Saban brings it up every year. 9 conference games would do that.
The Pandemic has got a lot of people thinking differently about stuff we use to believe about college football, like recruiting and practice time. In the past, we didn't want to go to 9 games because the SEC thinks it's unfair. We just went to 10 conference games and guess who won the national championship?
This league should have gone to 9 conference games as most of the power 5 schools have already done years ago. It's the answer to getting to play every school in a 4-year span even without cross division rivals.

Move the Barn to the East and 10rc to the West.

In a world where we didn't have a&m and mizzou it would be nice to eliminate the damn divisions.
