I may be setting myself up to get trolled here but I was just wondering what the perception of our program is like after Saturday. Before the game we were seen as a program that constantly wet the bed and rightfully so. I don't think anyone can say that after Saturday(Yes I know we still lost).
So what do people think.
1.It's 1 game and we are still massive underachievers.
2.The end of the season and the game Saturday are a springboard back to national relevance.

I know there is a lot of speculation here but give it your best shot.

Y'all stepped up a HUGE notch after Saturday. It's not "i'm happy because we won" speak either.

Richt proved he CAN compete and draw up a hell of a plan IN a big game, and execute it.

That's all he really NEEDED to accomplish to retain a high level of credibility.

I guess you missed the post game press conference.

You might want to get a can of Coke ready to slam down on a table.

I personally gained a ton of respect for that team and Mark Richt.

Not true, you do not have to be a tight arse like Saban to win. UGA is just fine, Only about 5 plays made a difference in that game, Bama just made one or two more than UGA, that is it.

Is that a moral victory I smell?

UA without the success.

Both have a variant of red as a color, hate AU/UT, and are the state school.

I saw a team physically bigger and more athletic than Alabama.

There really wasn't much difference in size between the two teams. Bama has depth on defense, we don't.

Hey... moral victories truly do count. Sometimes they aren't enough to save coaches (which isn't relevant here), but they do count.

What if the difference between making those few plays and not is being more focused rather than flying fast and loose?

UGA gave up 300 + yards rushing with a defense littered with NFL players, if not for int in end zone and punt return Bama routs UGA
Richt clock mgmt cost UGA a shot at national title

One thing I have never credited or perceived Richt capable of was mentally coaching his players to play big games like that. Maybe it's because I only follow UGA when y'all's fate is tied to ours, but as for me... I now believe Richt has changed that.

I just don't understand this argument after Saturday. Beforehand I would have agreed, but playing loose and emotional has nothing to do with getting that last ball tipped. We may or may not have scored but to say it won't win seems absurd when we were right there.

UGA overall has been an outstanding program under Richt - the can't win the big one stuff is mostly nonsense that a good portion of the UGA fanbase buys into

Richt is not Meyer or Saban but he is a great coach who knows how to run a program - your program bottomed out with the OOC losses a year or two ago and is back in the hunt for SEC titles

Granted I haven't watch all that much UGA football, but from what I can tell we already watched the National Championship game and UGA put up one hell of a fight (minus the brain fart from Murray). UGA looked good and has a great coach, but I think they lack the depth that Bama has. Same thing happened to A&M towards the end of their game with them. A&M looked worn down and tired, much like the UGA defense. We were fortunate to be on fire in the 1st Quarter. All that's left now is for Alabama to pound Manti into dust and bring home the trophy. It'd be nice to have the NC and the Heisman in the SEC.
