It became clear as day to me during the Tennessee vs. Oklahoma game when the ESPN announcers called the match up an ELIMINATION game.

The 12 team bracket perfectly aligns for a 2 loss Notre Dame team to easily slide into a slot.

It seems impossible at this point but it is not, it is merely improbable and in the world of corporate ownership of what we see on our televisions that translates into what does ESPN need to do to get Texas into the CFP?

Barring a loss to A&M don't bet against the network to get them in.

. Maybe if Vandy was playing Kentucky.
They're playing Tennessee.

If Vandy is 10-2, and Texas is 9-3, they aren’t passing us.

Not sure why they are so belligerent about this. Texas will probably be in CFP for the next 100 years. They can miss this year.

Here’s a suggestion- can we have a separate board just for Texas and A&M to yell at each other.

I don't think Texas leapfrogs us if we beat the Vols (likely ranked Top 20), but not super comfortable about it given the H2H result

You're right. The board is saturated.

Yet the media was focused on how a three loss Texas was still worthy before the UGA game. Then UGA embarrassed them and that narrative suddenly stopped.

You want to know what will happen with the seeding follow the media.

I don't disagree. And it may shake out that Texas should be in but they're hardly the only team with an argument who may get left out in favor of a team with more wins but isn't as good as them.

How do they not get in? They have a generational talent at QB. This was determined before the first game this year.

It is the other way around...

Another team with less loses but isn't as good as them.

I’m in favor of non-sec teams getting the nod over a three loss Texas. That being said, what’s the deal with ya’ll shaming the Florida loss so much? They’ve played four quarter games with Georgia, Texas, A&M, and Ole Miss. Is it that inconceivable that Florida could have beat a Texas team whose QB was struggling to throw screens at the time? A Texas team who had no LG at the time? A Texas team who had one semi-healthy RB? A Texas team who was missing two starting DBs? A Texas’s team who was averaging over 90 yards of penalties at the time? Week 5 Texas was a mess. We aren’t so much a mess anymore, but it’s still obvious how flawed we are. We still rack up penalties. We still drop balls. Our coverages aren’t tied properly to our fronts consistently. Our backs are still banged up running on pitch counts. Could we clean this stuff up with a month to practice? Who knows, Ohio State basically installed a brand new offense before the playoffs last year.

Have to beat A&M
Pitt has to beat Miami
Tennessee has to beat Vanderbilt
Kansas has to beat Utah
BYU has to lose to UCF
Texas Tech has to win the B12
One of Notre Dame, Alabama, or Oklahoma lose

TL;DR: Ain't haapnin

Florida is just a bad loss. Look at their record. If A&M had lost to Arkansas that would have been a bad loss. It isn't all that hard to see if you take off the SEC glasses.

Sark is on the hot seat in Austin, according to the media. This does not point to Texas as being in the playoffs. A&M could fall all the way down to # seven or eight with a loss but entered lock status this week. ND is ND. The committee has already shown that they don't care who you beat. They do care who you lose to and how

Tennessee spent years playing teams with more wins who were often ranked while we usually had 2 more losses than said team in bowl games. These supposedly good teams sucked.

Football isn't a fair sport when it comes to schedules and conferences despite the fact that people want to pretend that it is. There's nothing special about having a great record when the competition you play is weak.

Zero. You can lose, but you can’t get embarrassed if you have more losses than other teams you’re competing with. They got destroyed by Georgia, which eliminated them. If they lost a one score game, things might be different.
