But their two "controversial" 4th teams won titles. Ohio State and Bama both won titles despite people claiming them not deserving to be in.

Maybe they are actually good at their jobs?

The committee gave both a shot at the title and a 4th place slot. Both teams took advantage and won the hardware.

Wasn't OSU of last year the controversial one?

Naw the first year. Most thought OSU didn't deserve to be in that year.

Like I said before. Give Saban 5 weeks to prepare and he could take an Arkansas and have a good chance of winning it all. It proves nothing from the Committee.

There's only 1 week between the semi-final and the CG.

We'll never know what the proverbial 5th team would have done, but yes, point taken.

They were given a shot and they took advantage.

This was the shortest turnaround to a National Championship game in BCS/Playoff history.

And we know that Saban didn't have anyone prepping for OU or UGA. It could also explain why the second games are a lot closer than the first with Saban's teams.

Actually it just shows teams can beat anyone on any given saturday if given the chance

Every time OSU gets in its controversial

Imagine if Auburn won the SECC and Alabama still made the playoff over them

Ohio State got shutout in the playoffs last year while Penn State & USC put on one of the most exciting Rose Bowl games we’ve seen in a long time. I’d say that they whiffed big time last year.

Also, I’d like to use this opportunity to congratulate UF for narrowly beating out FIU for 6th best team in the state of Florida this year.

Or that perhaps the team Bama plays in the FINAL is better than the two semi-final losers.

If things are judged by the "eye test", I could see it happening.

it's completely irrelevant who won.

Not if you base it on seeding. Again, like any tournament (BB included), it shows who is playing the best at that time or who has the best coaching preparing for that format, not always the best team.

I don't agree with this synopsis. Sometimes the best teams aren't necessarily the most deserving teams.

It's a big reason why the BCS was started in order to give mid majors a chance at the big guys. And now we've reverted back to playing favorites.

Look, I think every single year you could put Bama in the playoffs and they'd have a shot of winning it all. That doesn't mean they're the most deserving every year.

Let's say there's a 2 loss Bama team who lost 2 games by 1 point to ranked teams, versus an undefeated "insert any team here", and Bama would likely still be a favorite to win against them. That doesn't mean they're the most deserving though.
