Let him stay. Let any of them stay that want to. There is not college anymore for these guys. They can exercise free agency any time they want. Who cares? Let them play. Unlimited eligibility.

he is not back in court this is still the same lawsuit as the one that let him play in 2025

Given that the NCAA is now giving players who have played for years in the European basketball league 4 years of eligibility I don't see how they can expect to win this lawsuit

Relatedly, Vandy landed the #1 QB in the nation, Jared Curtis, this past recruiting cycle. Curtis was ranked as the #1 overall recruit per 247 composite. Part of the allure to come to Vandy was to have a shot at playing Day 1 instead of redshirting. That's part of the motivation for him flipping to Vandy from UGA. So I think that also indicates that Pavia will be moving on from Vandy no matter what.

Curtis already lives in Nashville, all his friends and hoes are there. And his family.

Kirby could be using Vandy like his own personal juco, letting kids develop and shine vs SEC competition on someone else's dime, then tamper him into the portal later when he's ready to play to UGA's standards. Kirby takes who he wants from the lesser teams like Vandy. Clark Lea doesn't like it, but Lea knows the deal. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

He is a man that knows he cannot play in the NFL and also knows with his pea brain the real world will eat his lunch so stay in school and get his NIL, what a POS.

They should mandate the players to be enrolled in full time class load and not guarantee them a starting spot.

I thought it was this way. Apparently there’s some guys not even going to classes. Total cluster F.

How long before a 30 something invokes Right to Work law & sues for the opportunity to play college sports for pay?
Is it legal to limit a persons earning potential to 4-5 years?

I posted something similar to this nearly a year ago. These guys are now professional athletes, i.e. they are paid to play.

Let's take a guy like Pavia who is a VERY good college FB player but not good enough for the NFL or even the CFL. There are teams willing to pay him half a mil a year to play CFB. What's to keep him from playing 7,8, even 10 years? These guys transfer mid year, often more than once. How many credits are they taking with them? Are the credits even accepted or transferrable to their new landing spot?

What if they don't go to class? Why should they? I guess CFB will survive but we all need to recognize it for what it is and that's the equivalent of minor league baseball.

Yes. I blame Pavia. It's all his fault.

Well, you can blame it on me

Read he is back in Court wanting 7th year and will probably get favorable ruling. Some say this is the end of College ball. I don’t agree.

Pavia never won his case. The NCAA for some reason granted a limited waiver to give him eligibilty in 2025. The Court denied the NCAA appeal to the case because it made the case moot because they already granted him a waiver. I dont think that extends to 2026 so he basically would be starting over.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/2025/10/01/ncaa-appeal-in-diego-pavia-eligibility-lawsuit-dismissed-judge-encourages-congress-to-act/86462922007/

This info from last year...

quote:

A federal appeals court dismissed the NCAA's appeal of Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia's injunction in a ruling released Sept. 30, rendering the appeal as moot because Pavia was already granted full eligibility for the 2025 season. The court suggested, "Congress, the NCAA and the players can instead work together to find a way forward."

According to court documents acquired by The Tennessean, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit ruled because the NCAA granted a waiver to Pavia and others in his situation that gave them eligibility for 2025, and a ruling would not impact Pavia's nor anyone else's eligibility for this season, the appeal was moot. The court did not vacate the December 2024 injunction that allowed Pavia to play because the NCAA itself caused the appeal to become moot by issuing Pavia eligibility.

quote:

By rendering the appeal moot, the status quo remains for Pavia and other college athletes. The NCAA waiver already granted eligibility for the 2025-26 season to any athlete who started their career in 2020 or 2021 and played at least one season at a junior college, but the waiver does not apply to any future athletes. Neither the original injunction nor the appeals ruling issued any order that would force the NCAA to change its rules on junior college eligibility.

If this happens what we will see next is some kid that gets drafted with remaining eligibility left not do well in the NFL and come back to college to finish out his eligibility. Some are going getting paid more than NFL guys.

The thing I don’t like about transfers is the regular student wouldn’t be allowed to transfer after one year of classes from one university to another and be accepted. Most kids have to do two years at a CC before even having credits to transfer to a university.

Can you imagine being 29 years old on the LSU football team

And being a millionaire
On the LSU campus

Before NIL?

I can only dream of that situation

So the Lake Charles, Louisiana native decided to go home, and go to college. Enrolling at LSU, he got some sage advice from his mother. “She was like, ‘Zach, you don’t know a life without sports, so I don’t see why you wouldn’t continue now?’” Heeding those words, he tried out for the football team and became the Tigers’ punter at the age of 26. When LSU took the football world by storm and became national champions, Von Rosenberg was a 29-year-old junior.

I know the family well. Zach had to do something because baseball was not going to pay his bills as everyone thought so he enrolled at LSU. He had the stuff coming out of HS but could not get his velocity up in the minors and walked away after his contract was up.

Zach is a unique baseball player that got the opportunity to start the LA state championship game 4 yrs in a row at two different schools, went the distance in all 4, and won all 4.

IIRC he actually walked on to LSU as a TE but moved to punter as opportunity presented itself.

So if I’m say 40 and enroll and take the minimum hours per semester then what law says I can’t tryout for the football team?

I can see a whole bunch of out of work NFL guys coming back to school for a paycheck.
