If Tennessee could only beat Bama twice in 20 years and OU came in and did their job, knocking Bama out of playoff hunt in first year with 6 win team, what makes you think the volunteers could ever win one.

I totally agree the SEC was the dominant conference the previous 2 decades. But that’s like saying the Globetrotters were dominant over the Generals. It was all fake. Heck, SEC players now in their 40’s and 50’s openly discuss what they were given to sign. I respect it and was screaming for my team to also cheat but unfortunately they set on the “rule follower” path.
It’s only been about 2-3 seasons now with the portal, NIL, and expanded playoffs and the SEC is 0 for the past 2 in championship appearances. That’s isn’t a fluke or a random occurrence, just like the bought and paid for Bama and UGA teams weren’t a fluke or random occurrence.
There is a lot of money out there and teams are starting to tap that deep money. The days of big stadium teams in podunk towns or mid level cities totally dominating are over. Sure, they will still be viable but Tuscaloosa, Alabama or Athens, Georgia’s days of dominating are over. Miami is buying up players and will eventually get a real coach because the next Saban isn’t going to a podunk town like in the past.
Fan money was able to dominate the sport so 100,000 stadiums were able to outbid 60,000 stadiums. Now, it’s corporate money and city money and the entire trajectory of the sport is changing. I can’t wait to continue to watch it and continue to hear certain fanbases bellyache about leaving the sport because it “ain’t the same” when the rabbit has the gun.

ou're right. But 7 teams still makes the point. There are a lot more teams in the SEC capable of winning one, and I think Tennessee is still one of teams that can.

One thing that is never in doubt. Your obsession with the sec.

Yeah, that's how he makes his money.

But you should be thankful that you got a Notre Dame team that had the luxury of playing us without our starting QB and 3 injured OLinemen
What if UGA had played Bama with all of their receivers healthy in the 2021 natty? Might be one less trophy in the case.
Anyone who wins the national title nowadays is a worthy champion.

Ohio St literally would not have won the national championship last year if the requirements for making the playoffs weren't lowered. That's just plain out fact. I'm not blaming Ohio St for it, if Alabama did the same thing I'd be like - well that's what happened. Not our fault for the system. But I'm not going to pretend like it's not a lower standard and that it's not dumb.
Here here!

And hell, Alabama should have made the playoffs if we're being honest.
Gtfo with this. Don’t lose to Oklahoma AND Vandy and you’re in comfortably over SMU

What is arguable about this?

Freaking hilarious how you snuck in last year's 2-6 Oklahoma team. Maybe a sprinkle of fairy dust for you?
Tennessee's title was 1998.
.....and yeah I'm aware of Mizzou's performance. It's just nice we invited you to join our conference as the new bottom dweller. Vandy is happy.

Michigan's title is clouded by the cheating scandal. Ohio St. was able to capitalize on retaining a ton of upperclassmen who up until the playoffs last season hadn't done anything in their careers. Two anomalies of seasons has not shifted the balance of power no matter how much you wish cast it. Now go back to Eleven Warriors.

Ohio State and Oregon were the 2 best teams last season.

I dont think Oregon coulda beat ND

I would favor Oregon, but would not have been surprised if the Irish had won.

Ohio st
Texas
Georgia
Are clearly the true Alphas here to stay at this point
Still waiting on ND and Oregon or USC to get some real consistency with multiple coaches before they come in at 4

Also Alabama and Michigan just brought in the 1 and 2 overall in nation recruits who are both stellar stud QBs
We’ll see if that comes to fruitation and they can regain thier dominance back
