Since he took over at Auburn in 1981 Auburn has won.
1 NC (could claim several others)
7 SEC championships
3 undefeated seasons
20-19 H2H against Alabama
Obviously he was also able to get the IB to Jordan Hare

Him signing Bo Jackson saved Auburn football from being eaten by Alabama.

He always seemed like a big reason Auburn didn't completely fade into obscurity after the 1970s.

Bo was the main ingredient for sure

He was on the decline by my freshman year, but I understand pretty well what he did for Auburn when he arrived.

Auburn has achieved great success under every coach since Dye.
Dye won several SEC championships and had a national title worthy team
Bowden had an undefeated season
Tuberville had an undefeated season
Chizik won a national championship
Gus won an SEC championship and had a national title game appearance

One of my favorite lines was when Dye got hired.
He was asked how long it would take for him to come in beat Alabama.
He said 60 minutes.
Always liked that.

Coach Dye was not always a gentleman or a scholar. But he was Old School SEC with an iron rod for a spine. He had the right enemies, and didn’t mind telling them to their faces they could kiss his Auburn arse if they didn’t like something.
Pat Dye was the driving force that made December 2, 1989 happen. His name will always be noted among the Auburn and SEC legends.

Pat Dye was one of those greats that every program hopes to get once in a generation.

He was one of the greats. He took over when UGA was rolling and Bama was Bama, and proceeded to stake AU's claim as a big boy. He was a tough SOB for sure. Today I could probably take him 2 out of 3 times, a week ago I wouldn't even try!
RIP you crazy, tough, mean ole bastard. I'll have a bourbon tonight in your honor Coach Dye.
PS- the fact that that dude lived 80 years shows how dam tough he was

I remember how he got screwed out of a NC. Yeah, he should've gone for some touchdowns but he won the damn game against Michigan.
I liked the guy, even though he was so damn conservative. of course, that's how they all played back then.
it's just a damn shame about that NC.
