In all seriousness, Saban harped on this stuff quite a bit. Not sure what exactly the future of CFB has in store, but it’s been out of control for a couple years now.
There’s a thread on tRant discussing whether a team could legally use NIL for walk-ons as a workaround on scholarship limits & the conclusion was “don’t see why not”.

Many Bama fans are in psychological shock because their worst fear has happened. Saban is gone.

If you are to post on that board, you can’t be critical unless you are Saint or Boz. And be prepared because Boz isn’t an insider and if you attack him, those on there will want you banned.

In fairness, there are (I think) 25 Alabama players in the portal right now. Assuming they are all scholarship players, that would leave about 60 scholarship players left. Needing a minimum of 46 players on each team (two deep at each position on offense and defense and one punter and one FG kicker) was he that far off base? That said, there are walk-ons, I guess and perhaps portal entries, but it could still be close.
