I've been to both and they are both great atmospheres. I still prefer Oxford, though. I still say the 2003 LSU-Ole Miss game was my favorite game I have ever attended in person. Electric old-school feel atmosphere.

The girls are hotter in Oxford, but you'll have a better chance of getting laid in Tuscaloosa.

Funny wasn't that way AT ALL while I was in school in the 80's.

you dont get beers poured on you in baton rouge just for wearing the opponents colors. to insinuate that nonsense is fricking comical.

Nah this was in a nicer part

I have been to a few MSU/LSU games in BR and wore MSU stuff and this never happens to me. But that is because LSU sees no threat from us.

A school that they think they could lose to, such as UF, Bama, or Ole Miss who yall just hate, this happens on a regular basis.

I don't mind it, I think it makes the atmosphere better.

eta: the drink dousing part i mean.

I've had a trouble one time when visiting Baton Rouge for a game, and that was after Alabama's 1998 late game heroics, so that was expected. I lived in Baton Rouge for a while and would tailgate in Alabama gear, when LSU was playing someone other than Alabama. I didn't have problems then. I do wonder where these stories come from. Now, I have had trouble on several occasions at Tennessee and Ole Miss. But that whole weekend in Oxford was shite in 2003. It was their first major win over Alabama in 40 years.

I'm sorry your fanbase is full of rabid yats who enjoy dousing people in drinks.

But a coordinated atmosphere it is not. BR is all over the place on game day, not really any logistical symmetry.

yes, logistical symmetry is quite important to the tailgating experience. personally, i like the food experience, the people experience, the overall social thing; but it takes all kinds.

I guess you didn't read the other part of my post saying how much I like BR on gameday, but this in no way surprises me.

I visited both this year as an Arkansas fan. Even though the Hogs got kilt at Bama, My 8 year old son and I enjoyed that trip greatly. I think everyone should see a game there and enjoy the tailgaiting.

Alabama fans will get all sentimental about the whole Texas A&M connection with Bear Bryant and Gene Stallings and the tradition of the two schools. We as fans tend to like to share the love with the other fans with that sort of thing. Texas A&M will be more likely to lose, but I guarantee people will go out of their way to make you feel welcome. And then they'll Rammer Jammer you. But it's all in good fun.
