Pain.................

OU practiced the blocked punt 7 times in practice, blocked it5 times. They saw a weakness on film and exploited.
Best part: The codeword to go for block was “Golden Hat”. They called Golden Hat and every player knew assignment.

It is a hard game to lose for fans... That is for sure.
But you should feel lucky. When Texas loses you all can kind of blend back into DFW or drive back to Austin unprovoked.
When OU loses... if you hang around Dallas with an Oklahoma tag... You are marked...
And Texas fans delight on being along the side of the road and on overpasses on North I-35 to give it to the OU fans on their way home.
That is kind of a Sunday after a Texas win tradition for Texas fans living north of Dallas.

Thou shalt study film, and thou shalt study it with care.
All it takes is noticing one tendency that you can exploit for a game changing moment.

OU has received plenty of ace whoopings from Texas, especially the 49-0.
However, Saturday’s win and the manner of the last second field goal was amazing.

Let’s look at trends. Seems our HC D is trending better than your HC O. Each is a specialist on those respective sides of the ball
Rankings for each unit coordinated by a Red River HC. What do you guys notice about each trend-line?
Texas OFF OU DEF
2021: 47 / 76
2022: 35 / 121
2023: 9 / 77
2024: 21 / 19
2025: 70 / 6
2026: 79 / 5

I'm glad so many people got to experience how special this game can be. It's as intense as any game in college football and has so many other elements that make it great.
There's no pain for Texas and OU fans like the pain of losing this game, and there never will be.

The TV camera was shaking when filming the last play…….

It’s probably the worst loss in the Sark Era considering the circumstances. It was also predictable based on our previous performances. We’re an incredibly undisciplined football team and OU needed help to beat Texas. Still, watching it in real time was almost unbelievable. Mistake after mistake. Though the execution was pathetic at times, I thought the worst aspect of the Texas performance was offensive play calling. OU was conceding light boxes to Texas, yet Sark would not commit to the run. Venebales deployed a four man box at one point in a 2nd and short situation, just hand the ball off and lets get the frick out of here with a win. It’s like teams key on Sarks lack of patience as a play caller. He won’t commit, even if somethings working. He’s going to take his shots, you just need to weather them, and you’ll put Texas in 3rd and longs. Despite the lousy performance, I thought the atmosphere was amazing. When the camera panned to the OU crowd, you could see how hungry they were for an upset. The team was feeding off it.

Do those people still congregate outside of Sanger on the east side of I35? I thought that lot was turned into something else. I always thought about getting on the service road to get some pics of those folks. Practically a 'Zoo of Human Oddities'

So true. I’ve had a few Sooners stop by to visit my office today to check in and discuss the game. I love this rivalry.

Surprisingly, OU fans were pretty gracious after the game, leaving and in/around the fair.
I hadn't been to a game in a while and certainly was still BigXII days, but I remember it being pretty vicious both ways.
OU fans were juiced and the "SOONERS" were "BOOMER"'ing, The "Texas Sucks" call and response was loud, don't get me wrong, but on the whole it was pretty respectful.
Maybe us being yoked in the SEC has dampened the vulgarity and hatred and cruelty between us, I don't know.

You should have to take Special Teams Coordinator Jeff Banks and his wife, Pole Assassin, for that.

No more Commerce Street is one factor. But I think there's more mutual acceptance since we joined the SEC. Hard to explain.
