Hawkins will not be the same qb as last year:

1. Was a true freshman with team already in trouble and no wrs or oline. Had no QB coach. Had no OC to speak of he got fired.

2. He’s a legacy, his dad played at OU. Could have left and started at other schools but stayed.

3. He’s had 1 year with an established OC and QB coach

4. Has actual wrs this year with another coming back, who might be our best one (6-4 too).

5. Has an actual TE this year whi leads NCAA in yardage

6. Has a better Oline.

I think people who write him off may rephrase that once he plays. He will not be as good as Mateer, but won’t be bad like last year either. Fall camp writers raved about his progress compared to last year and how Mateer was even mentoring him.

Hawkins passed for 783 and ran for 204 last year. Beat Auburn on road. But he had zero help on offense.

The tx game is huge. We need a run game but at least have a passing threat unlike last year. Game will come down to mistakes. And Hawkins can scoot.

This will derail his heisman campaign. The QB from USCw looks like a stud he might win it

Next man up. Mizzou beat OU with a 3rd string QB last year.

I mean, their backup is better than Arch as it is.

OU only has 2 running backs right now and one is a true freshman. Need to get Taylor Tatum and Xavier Robinson back from injury and get Jayden Ott of his arse.

So, all of those reasons that Auburn fans gave for why JA could improve, that OU fans said were bullshite, are legit now that we're talking about Hawkins??

Except for the legacy point. That stands out alone as having nothing to do with anything.

Jared Goff had the same injury and the same Dr fixed his thumb that Mateer is going to. He missed 12 days and played playoff game

Goff went 9-19 for 150 yards in that game. Just because they’re “back” doesn’t mean they’re ready. It’s also different circumstances, Rams are in a win or go home situation. OU will be risking a much worse injury rushing him back with half the season left to play.

I also don’t think this is a surgery you can really push off until the end of the season like Gerald is implying.

He played the rest of the game. I think Gerald is right. Hoping so.

I’d rather him not have this issue so there’s no asterisk next to the game.

I mentioned at the beginning of the year after watching week 1 that he was going to make the RRR a fun game this year and could have seen something like the 2023 game happen where Gabriel led a GW drive.

This guy has it. We will find out if Arch can move it on a competent defense in two weeks
