They won a four-team tournament. They proved they were the best among those four teams in that time frame, and that's about it.

The only way bama would not make the playoff is if they failed to win the SEC, and then Clemson and Notre Dame won out, and Michigan won the Big Ten at 12-1.
Michigan would have wins over Wisconsin twice, Penn State, Ohio State, and Michigan State. And their only loss would be all the way back to the first game of the season on the road in a close game against a playoff team.
I think they would pick Michigan over Bama at that point. Ohio State losing by 25 to a team that won’t finish in the top 25 kills them when it comes to a direct comparison against Alabama.

Just like Ohio State two yrs ago. Pen state won but y’all went. Difference is Bama handled it’s business. Ohio state didn’t.
