This basically shows who has a shot at winning the natty. Sorry for those not included.

4 of the top 7 from the SEC; 3 of those in the West.

Seeing Texas on the list is a really big surprise
Also, based on that, Aub and LSU should be locks in week one

nice find, not exactly how I would have thought either

Seems more relevant to do recruiting stars of those players actually on the team, but I get where they were headed.

Can we get a list for all sec teams?

Why does he use the recruiting lists for his ranking? It's a lot more accurate to look at the actual players on roster. 247 rankings based on composite average should be out soon.

So you're saying it comes down to coaching?
We're screwed!!

Having Texas and LSU on the list essentially negate it for this year.

Why? They only went off for one year, and it was with like 48 or 49% ratio I think? They've recruited fine... and they're the "named school" in a state that produces a lot of top talent.

This is basically "Who needs to get a better coaching staff" list. LSU and Auburn have had way too much talent over the last few years not to be vying for the national title regularly. Both of them seem to be victims of spineless administrators.

This is in line with my theory that the bottom half of a recruiting class largely doesn't matter. With few exceptions, after you get past the 12-15th guy most of the rest won't play in meaningful situations.
So if half your recruits are 'blue-chips', it means you are playing almost exclusively 4 and 5 star guys. And the three stars that do play either are specialists, developed a lot on campus, or were were simply mis-evaluated.

I understand your logic, but not sure I agree. Players practice against their team mates several times a week and it makes a difference if they're consistently going against other top athletes. Plus, it's impossible to predict when you'll end up well down the depth chart at one or more positions during the season. As a general rule, I'd rather throw 4 and 5 star backups into the fray than 3 stars.

Miami is at 46 percent and has a poor 2015 class (23 percent) cycling off the books next year.

Florida is at 42 percent, and the poor 2015 class (24 percent) will be coming off the books. With a strong class this year, UF could get back above 50 percent
Damn, when was the last time both Miami and UF were under 50%?

FWIW, as far as the rankings go, they really *don't* have that big of an impact beyond 15.
For Alabama's 2018 class, your overall rank was 5 with a score of 289.94.
If I remove all but the top 15 guys, your rank would have been 10 with a score of 273.44.
7/22 = 32%
16.5 point differential is 5.7% of the total score.
On a relative scale, the class rankings are largely impacted by the recruits at the top of the class, not the bottom.

um, because they have only had ONE winning season in the last 4 years (last year)
and that is ONLY because they won their bowl game (fricking Mizzou

recruiting at that level normally produces better on filed results; ergo my surprise to see them on this list
plus, I do not follow recruiting that heavily; esp non SEC teams

Yeah... I didn't mean that to be some sort of knock on your post... just that they've essentially recruited well independent of success for a while.
Charlie Strong, while not successful there was stocking the roster pretty well. They just canned him when it looked like he wasn't ever going to turn the corner. That then got them some new "buzz" with the Herman hire so it's time to see if he can do it. Talent level on the team largely is never going to get *too* low, just being UT in the state of Texas. There is an assload of talent in the state... maybe not as much 5* these days, but a *lot* of 4*. Even if they miss on the top targets in state to A&M or Oklahoma, they will generally still get theirs.
