On what basis did Tennessee make the Gator Bowl?

Serious question. I mean, I know the Gator Bowl has lost most of its prestige over the past decade, but, damn, it's still preferable to the fricking Birmingham Bowl.
How did this happen with teams like Florida and Texas A&M ahead of them in the pecking order?

Butch Jones wanted another losing record.

Because they knew tennessee would give a shite and send fans there. Something Florida can't offer.

Florida has terrible fans.

On the basis that everybody is tired of watching Iowa beat Florida in bowl games

Tenner has 4 years of bowl tension pent up and ready to burst. Their fans will be like sailors on shore leave.

They'll stay in the hotels and spend money in the restaurants. Gator fans will drive to the game in the morning and then drive home after the game.

Your bowl didn't want you. They wanted us. Blame your fanbase for not showing up last time.

I know you're trolling, but do you really think that they'd bring more fans to a game in Jacksonville than Florida would?

With a freshman squad, were 12 points away in 3 games from being a 9-3 team. 15 practices and time to game plan for a 5 loss Iowa team will be sufficient. Go Big Orange....

Pretty much. Hell we took over the Belk Bowl's feed to the point where they responded. And FWIW, no sooner was it announced than we literally broke the Gator Bowl's website trying to snatch up tix. THAT is why they want us. It's not often non-playoff bowls have an opportunity like this come along - we will show up like it's a championship game.
