If an LSU grad marries a Tennessee grad, how is that not a valid house divided?

I dont think it necessarily means you play each other every year, i think it could mean both of you are passionate about your school and care much less about the other. Possibly divided on who watches what game when they play at the same time. Possibly divided on going to a public event when your teams on bye week and theirs isnt? Hell i dont know, i just never took it to mean they rarely play thus arent divided on who they root for.

Unless it was all lollipops and roses in the 2001 and 2007 championship games then yeah it is.
