I don't think they can get repeat offender until the first case is officially closed. With it still being open, any charges with regards to Tunsil will be added to this case.

I think....Seems unfair they'd be hit with repeat offender before knowing official punishment for first NOI.

How am I melting?

We have a reduction in schollies....some of which we've already imposed. Two assistants are banned from recruiting for a year. And we have a few years of probation.

There is not allegations of paying players a ton of money like people accused us of. No show causes for coaches. No post season ban.

If you consider our punishments to be "fricked" level.....then

No, that's what you offered up the NCAA. There is no guarantee they accept that.

Why you continue to believe what your media reporters say baffles me.

shows that OM hid stuff from the NCAA while the NCAA was investigating them. This will get much worse for OM.

I'm not saying that is definite. Assistant coaches and staff go off the reservation and get caught. Remember the Akeem Hicks saga at LSU? It is possible Freeze and the AD didn't know the full story there. However, the truth really doesn't matter here. It's all about how the NCAA investigators PERCIEVE what happened.

I never said that it wasn't possible. I'm just pointing out the hilarity in the nature of everyone here to automatically assume the worst possible scenario.

If ole miss gets the death penalty...it will have zero effect on my life. But it seems like the lives of some posters on here are hanging by a thin thread.

This cannot be pointed out enough...

Bjork has essentially admitted that OM did not disclose payments to Tunsil and his mother WHILE the NCAA was investigating them for impermissible benefits.

The NCAA releases the NOA...and then the draft happens and it is revealed the OM was cheating and did not produce this information while being investigated...not boosters cheating...members of the staff that report directly the Freeze.

That is willful and wanton disregard right there.

Ole Miss is going to get hammered!

9 scholarships over 3 years.

Let's explain this:

9 over 3 is what OM is self-imposing. That's not what the NCAA is ruling or agreeing with.

The fact that the NCAA was there going over everything and that Ole Miss either hid the info on Tunsil or just wasn't upfront with that info would lead me to believe that NCAA will not look at that as Ole Miss cooperating with the investigation.

That to me will be their downfall in this whole thing.

you assuming in repeating anything that our media is saying is baffling. The only thing I've seen is our university's response.

But you go on being you.

Ole Miss: Hey, Mr NCAA, yeah so here's what all we did and we know its a lot, but we are slapping ourselves on the wrist.
NCAA: Yeah...ummm...not quite.
Ole Miss: But we slapped our self pretty hard.

-Tunsil stuff comes to light-

Ole Miss: Ok so....two slaps on the wrist?
NCAA: ...

The NCAA always comes down harder after the self imposed penalties. Ole Miss might end up being alright when it is all said and done but this is going to hurt.

Again, it is entirely possible that they didn't know the full story. However, it looks really bad on the face of it, and if that narrative takes off in sports media, the NCAA will want to hit back hard.

I'm sure we'll have more schollies taken away. But I highly doubt it will be a debilitating amount.

Like you just said, you're assuming everyone is thinking the worst is going to happen. Posters are just saying it's going to get bad for OM. That doesn't mean they think it'll be the worst case.

You're the first poster to bring up the death penalty in this Post.

You do understand that we have been working directly with the ncaa and the most basic level of common sense should tell you that we've likely been working with them regarding our self imposed sanctions, right?

UGA worked with the NCAA on Gurley too and we had all of our self imposed stuff extended so that he basically missed the majority of the year

In this little paragraph, the Tunsil DRAFT DAY matter explained front and center in Ole Miss official response. Translation, it ain't over:

"On the first day of the 2016 NFL Draft, new information came to light involving a former football student-athlete," the letter said. "That very night, the University and NCAA began a joint review to determine whether bylaws have been violated, and we hope this review will be concluded soon. To ensure fairness to all parties and pursuant to [Committe of Infractions] procedure, we have asked the COI to remove the hearing from this summer's docket until this review can be completed and closed."
