As an LSU fan I vote for Hotty Toddy. That could become iconic.

Those are some embarrassing choices. No wonder the students have been reported to be pretty apathetic about the mascot.

I heard the Ole Miss game broadcast against J'ville State. The landshark references were pretty lame. Kellum needs to listen to the broadcast replay and realize how truly bad the landshark references sound. All I can think about are the Sat. Nite Live skits.

The bear has no connection to Ole Miss and makes no sense.

Hoddy Toddy looks like the blueman or "grayman" with an Ole Miss Basketball uniform. Truly inspiring (not). I am sorry, but it is truly weird and I can't see why any Ole Miss would find this an acceptable mascot.

I don't have a dog in the hunt, but I really do wish they would come up with something worthwhile or just abandon the effort altogether. As much as I like to "hate" Ole Miss, I really do think the fans deserve better.

They could always go back to the original nickname for Ole Miss before they became the Rebels, The Flood.

For some reason the words landshark and candygram are linked in my brain. Every time I hear either word it reminds me of the other word.

Yeah it does

Only in the black bears are native to Mississippi as they are throughout the South and much of Eastern US. Other than that is there any unique connection to Ole Miss? Any native animal would do if it is just that there are black bears in the state. Maybe catfish would make more sense, but then State fans would object because of State's association with the catfish industry.

Wouldn't Bama sue if they adopt the bear as the mascot?

Is the mascot really gonna carry a pom pom in its back pocket. I just dont see anything good coming out of this for Ole Miss, they just need to leave things as is .

Y'all just need to shut things down...all of that was awful.

Maybe you can change your mascot name to Bama's lil Bitches and sport a small 'a'.

Teddy hunted them in MS, aka Teddy Bear. Also several of william faulkners stories and books were about Black Bears, surely I don't have to explain faulkners connection to OM

Sorry bnap, drew and the rest of us are tired of explaining the connection. This has to be the 100th time over the past 6 months. You asked politely and sorry we were tired of explaining it, frick you LSU fans who give these page long deacriptions of how it has nothing to do with OM when you have no idea about the subject

Now you understand the bear connection, he'll wear a little a on the front with bamas bitch on the back, and of course wearing houndstooth
