"Afterthought of the SEC"--Is that an improvement or decline from being named "The Runt of the SEC"?

Not really a bad article, though. Mentioned a lot of good points.

The article title sounds really crappy but the article itself is actually pretty good

52% of Ole Miss's current freshmen class is from out of state. That's pretty remarkable and probably contributes to why Ole Miss students don't show up for football games.

What are you talking about? They've shown up to all of the games this year. The last two, I don't really blame them based on the total of 6 wins over a 2 year period. Maybe MSU students can support losing seasons because they are so much more used to them.

Right, that's why Richard Cross blasted the Ole Miss student attendance on Head to Head yesterday. Your last sentence isn't topical.

Wow. I can't believe Ole Miss is the third most popular program in that state. When I was little they were the clear favorite.

The student section was packed out an hour and 15 minutes before Texas kickoff. They didnt show up in the rain, big surprise. State is right behind us in OOS students btw. Second in the SEC

Simply means we are the most hated. You poll everyone in MS to rank their favorite 3 schools not one state or southern fan will put down OM unless they are forced to and then they'd put them 3rd.

It's not.

The poll was probably horseshite with bad sampling, not to mention it was done during the worst season in OM history.

It was 45 degrees and raining dumbass. Im not saying thats an excuse to not show, but it rain is why they didnt show up, not the fact that they are from Georgia

Alabama is experiencing this to some degree. Even with a much larger state population, Alabama has to heavily recruit students from out-of-state to stay north of 35,000 students. Our lower bowl student section stays full for every game, but the upper deck student section is noticeably empty for less hyped games.

The article is overall very positive. Tip of the cap to the OP, no reason to flame him.

OOS students are a good thing by the way. They pay more money. It's not like there's some big movement in MS where all the in-state students are going elsewhere and you have to replace them with OOS students. OM needs to con't to attract OOS students to grow. Same with Bama

I don't think that's a good hypothesis. Overall, several SEC schools have a large out of state enrollment. Arkansas' is north of 30%, mainly from Texas.
