Are you 12? It's 2013. That issue has been settled for some time now, from what I'm told. So relax. BTW- you do realize the story behind the LSU mascot didn't originate with a large striped cat from India, no?
If LSU wants to disassociate itself with any & all things having to do with the civil war, they'd best get busy renaming most of the buildings on campus. But I don't see it happening. Most likely because it's a pointless non-issue to anyone who doesn't carry a chip on their shoulder.

I hated to see him go, but something had to be done. I would be ashamed to be associated with a school that alienated a sect of students for the sake "turdishun".

You're correct. Far cry, indeed; the guy in the suit is not based on a specific group of individuals, and more like a cartoon character than an actual person from the civil war era. Frankly, I'd be embarrassed to admit I felt threatened or offended by a pitiful looking caricature.
Priorities are an important part of life. But everyone is free to place theirs in any order they wish.
