would tend to agree with you if it were not for the new penalty matrix

Will this apply to Ole Miss? I know it has been linked but do you have it to link again?

Based on the new matrix what would Ole Misses punishment end up looking like?

After a 5 year investigation, Ole Miss has penalties (Academic fraud) under the old matrix and the new matrix.

Maybe that's their defense: Confuse the hell out of everybody and sneak out the back door.

Sorry, here's a link to the Penalty structure LINK

So, I would think that due to the investigation starting before the new matrix that the penalties will not be based on it, or at least that is what OM will agree. I read a post that detailed what the penalties would be based on the new matrix and it was really bad news.

Don't remember which thread or post topic. Do you by chance have it or know what OM would face if penalties were based strictly by the new matrix?

May have worked if they had not admitted to cheating while under investigation.

Louisville issue was one sport. Ole Miss issue, while heavily football with a lot of Level 1s in football, covers multiple sports over multiple years and includes violations occurring DURING the NCAA's investigation.

The cases aren't comparable and LOIC is absolutely warranted given everything written above.

Then why was LOIC only added in the second notice?

If you would have listened to sources other than OM mouthpieces then you would have known that a 2nd or amended NOA was always going to be issued.

Ole Miss beat writers have crushed the administration about how it was handled.

My understanding is that because this all started before the new matrix, they can avail themselves to the old one.

something like 80 scholarships and show causes for all the coaches and 5 year bowl ban. I think the NCAA is a little nicer... 3 year bowl ban and 44 scholarships over 4 years and permanent probation

To add LOIC the NCAA should have added additional evidence to support that charge in amended NOA. They did not and that charge will be dismissed IMO...as will all things relative to Leo Lewis.

I think the NCAA punished Louisville under the old penalty structure for those infractions that occurred before the new penalty matrix started. As far as I can find, that was August 1, 2013. Any infractions that occurred after that date were (and would be) penalized under the new rules.

If all the stuff in the first notice was so bad why didn't it warrant LOIC? Are you saying the NCAA meant it then too they just didn't put it in the notice because they were saving it for the second one?

Pitino couldn't document him trying to control his coaches either though. He simply said he didn't know and that was it.

The penalty matrix was different... they took the newer stuff out and put it into a new NOA to punish you guys under the newer harsher matrix. You guys really pissed them off. i don't understand why you rebs don't get this.

Why ask Louisville when we have one of the most frequent and recent violators right here in our own state?

Sounds like wishful thinking. State is going to be really disappointed.
