To answer your question, Aggie land was a tiny insecure bastion of gay woman haters
So much irony

And the compulsory service in the Corps.
LSU also had compulsory service in ROTC for underclassmen up until 1970.

It isnt ironic at all. Irony requires subtlety, I am straight up reporting what will happen, and after looking over the thread it has followed the aggie pattern to a T.
The Aggie recipe...some passive aggressive behavior, some deflection of past failures, a few excuses and a dig at LSU.

Why would A&M agree to come to Baton Rouge every year without a return trip?
Little brothers always want to hang out in big brother's room, never the other way around.

the aggies were a small military school until about 1970. enrollment about 7k and NO WOMEN enrolled (a handful of professors daughters and students wives could attend). their program was awful and they couldn't half fill their plain stadium.
going to Baton Rouge meant money and big time football for them.
in about 1970 they had a smart president and he ended mandantory ROTC and then allowed WOMEN to attend shortly thereafter. A&M actually ended mandantory ROTC a year before LSU did (LSU's was for first 2 years of enrollment only) but LSU's guys didn't have to wear their uni's anywhere except ROTC classes and LSU HAD WOMEN (lots and lots of WOMEN). I attended both university's and know of what I speak.

You are pretty much spot on.

ROTC =/= Being in the Corps at a Senior Military College
One is an extracurricular activity with a few classes. The other is a 24 hour experience with breaks in the form of classes.
This is a picture of game day at LSU in 1969. That is not what you see at an SMC.

But what about '96-'00?
96 may have been to soon (like 95) but 97 would have been an interesting matchup. 98 too. 99 was a shitshow.

So A&M was a rent-a-win back in the day?
I am kidding you frickers, I am kidding

At times, that certainly was the case.

Well, not quite that bad, but we were also not anything to fear (outside the last couple of Bear years).
Kind of like Kentucky, with now being their Bear years.

1965 is when Rudder made the changes, not 1970.
