So I'm looking for something to watch and we've had so many classics since 2000, but it almost seems the series was bereft of truly "memorable" games before that (surely a lot to do with LSU being inconsistent at best from 1974-1999). I hear 1985-88 and 1993 games a good bit from guys my dad's generation

Games at Legion Field, especially the one played during tornado watches and warnings

The best ones were the games in the 2003-2007 seasons

I was in undergrad and grad school for those 5 games.

It was awesome.

1996

Was young, but I remember that very well, Bama was good but seemed very beatable, LSU had our best team in almost a decade, optimism was high, then... Shaun Alexander had his coming out party and ran for like 300 yds en route to a 26-0 Bammer rout.

2005 and 1999 were fairly memorable contests.

1999 game aged me 20 years. I thought you guys had us beat for sure with a 1st & goal inside the 5 with about 20 ticks left, but Josh Booty was stopped just short of the goal line and time expired. Marvin Constant I think made the stop, but blew out his knee on the play & unfortunately ended his career. Helluva game.

Only had 37 open receivers in the endzone as I recall

The 1982 game was great for LSU because it ended an 11-game losing streak to Alabama. LSU won close games at Alabama in '84, '86 and '88. The Alabama-LSU game in '85 in BR was a tie because Ronnie Lewis missed a 19-yard FG on the last play of the game. And unranked LSU beat unbeaten and once tied Alabama in Tuscaloosa in '93.

But usually the games in BR were Alabama routs. The one exception would be the 3-0 Alabama win in the rain in '79 in a game that really wasn't as close as the score indicated.

The 1993 game when LSU broke the 31 game winning streak. David Palmer ended up playing QB and was pretty damn good at it considering.

'79, Baton Rouge. Driving rain the entire game.
Great defense for both sides.
Bama 3
LSU 0

The 1982 game at legion field was the first time I ever saw Bama lose in person (my senior year of HS). LSU fans came down to field level along the fence ready to storm the field. I don’t know where they came from, but about 200 state troopers lined the inside of the fence around the field holding billy clubs. Nobody jumped the fence.

1998. LSU had Alabama on the ropes, up 16-7 with under 5 minutes left and on the goal line about to put it away. Then Herb Tyler threw an interception. Alabama scored a touchdown, recovered the onside kick and scored again in the last minute. Alabama won 22-16. LSU kicked Alabama's arse the whole game, and somehow managed to lose.

The 1998 game in Baton Rouge is memorable for me. Still haven't figured how Bama won that one.

1998 was one of the greatest games. Bama was down 16-7 with less than 3 minutes to go. They scored a TD to cut the lead to 16-14, recovered an onside kick. Then Zow threw a TD to Micheal Vaughn off a deflected pass for the win 22-16.

Neither team was ranked going in, but a hell of a game.

Alabama has pulled a win out of their arse in Baton Rouge a few times the last 20 years. Death Valley is pure magic for Alabama

2000 LSU, led by 1st team all SEC QB Josh Booty party like its 1969, defeating bama in Baton Rouge for first time in 31 years. LSU also had a coach in his 1st year with the Tigers that season. I wonder what ever happened to ole what's his name.

That 1998 game was incredible but as an LSU fan it will break your heart.

We were up 16-7 going into the fourth quarter, then gave up 15 unanswered.
