if Oklahoma was in the same situation as Oklahoma State right now would they have gotten the nod to play in the Title game

is this years game an example of a lesser known school getting passed over because they arent a household name ?

They would have jumped Alabama. I have no doubts about that.

Absolutely. They were preseason #1, so they had the cred for people to be MUCH more forgiving of a bad loss.

But alas, they sucked balls this year, at least compared to the hype. I do love when preseason rankings prove to be so wrong.

Yup. They started pre-season number 1. Alaways helps to start higher.

This.

If Auburn was sitting #2 @ 11-1 with a loss to LSU, OSU would have jumped them.

I wouldn't argue that.

in the hypothetical, is OK simply a one loss team?

... or did OK lose to a 6 loss, 4 TD underdog?

Okie would have had a quality non-conference win to point to (Florida State), they would have won their championship. Still, EVERYONE remembers that Okie always blows in the big game.

Since Okie State almost passed bama (closest vote ever), I believe that Okie would also have passed Bama.

Auburn at 11-1 with a win over Clemson (ACC Champs) and EARLY would have been in over Okie State, but NOT Okie.

Yes. OU, like Bama, is a traditional/entitled/media darling.

We'd be hearing about "Big Game Bob" on ESPN every day, while discounting the 2003 game in NOLA.

If the teams were reversed, with Bama winning the game, OSU would have jumped LSU.

:duh:

OSU is lesser known than Auburn - ZERO BCS BOWLS until this year. they're a second to third tier program with a mega-rich booster. Big Deal.

In other seasons, perhaps. Not this year.
