Oh trust me, there are plenty of them here who want his head on a platter already. I personally really like the guy as a person and wanted it to work for him, badly. Whatever IT is he don’t got it. The biggest thing for me was when he came in he didn’t really bring anyone with him and left most of prior staff intact. I get he didn’t want to lose recruits but he mismanaged personnel terribly.

What???
The entire current defensive staff came in with him. None of them were leftovers from TBOW.
He brought in a new OC, TE coach, WR coach on the offense.

Venables is the DC.

He was here 1 year, and a BV clone. His systems are BV systems. So in that regard nothing major lost other than surprise. We have staff on hand who could take over or go outside as well.
I admire y'all's attempts to polish this turd, but you have to admit it's looking more and more like a shite show in Norman.

Exactly, it means he has to hire someone he’s worked with to run his system. They aren’t getting a DC with his own system and playbook.

Lebby was a committee hire and I forgot how vital JJF was to the development of that group. My bad. I’m glad DM stayed and he can recruit but my goodness he can’t coach. BB idk what to say about him. I’m trying to convince myself it’s the injuries, it’s the lack of experience, he coached the best center in football, ect, but I turn on a game our QB is a tackling dummy all year.

A 28 year old with 1 year of DC experience at the P4 level leaving for a mentor who'll let him bring in his own staff and run the show completely because the HC is an offensive guy, isn't a turd that needs polishing.
Good luck to him, tho.....

I’m biased on JJF because we had a good TE unit, and they year he was with us, that unit was shite. But then he got hired by you guys, and I don’t even like him for you guys.

This is an unmitigated disaster for the okies. This move was unplanned, unexepected and a colossal blow, which is why even more players are transferring.
OU football was good for generations because of insitutiontionalized, school-coordinated cheating (at a Bama/Georgia level). No elite players want to take less money to be in a toilet like Norman when you can get more money and enjoy life in a real city.
There is a real chance ou doesn't have another winning season in our lifetimes.

I honestly felt bad for him when he had to start calling plays. It was that embarrassing

He took a lateral to WVU?? Unless he happens to be from there that looks really bad for OPoo.

I’d rather be able to get beat by UGA three times in one season and lose in the Natty than get cooked by Navy but it will still be epic

Even the diehards who believe like me are now understanding hes not getting another year if he doesnt drastically improve this team next year. Mateer is a good qb and maybe the oc can change alot on offense and give us hope. OL has to drastically get better. Wr need to stop dropping passes.

It can’t get any worse. Just got to take the punches and keep moving forward.
If Venables can’t make strides next season, it’s time to move on.
