He better run faster than that, or Roquan is going to bounce his head off that turf.

Was it that long ago LSU beat Oklahoma and their Heisman Trophy winner for the national title?

I see this happening a third time.

The 1951 Sugar Bowl was not a NC game. Oklahoma was already declared the National Champion. The same concept applies to the 1964 and 1973 Alabama teams that won the National Title prior to their bowl losses.

Are you under 40 because you sure sound like it with that comment.

I knew Bear Bryant and Adolph Rupp back in the day so I am aware of the real history that you only seem to know from reading someone else. Back in the days the polls were done the week before the Army - Navy game and you did not have the extra CCG's. I know it is hard to believe in the age of 50 zillion meaningless bowls but back then you had just a handful and winning them was a big deal.

Rose (1902) - SEC shut out after WWII for winning too much
Sugar (1935) - Tulane's SEC contribution to college football
Orange (1935)
Sun (1935) - has fallen in stature
Cotton (1937)

Basically you had 4 bowls and winning them was a big deal. I know you want to revise history and say they were not but ask your grandparents about those days. The Maryland game and the Kentucky game were instrumental in the polls extending past the next to last game of the season and into the current final poll after all the bowls have been played.

You Sooner folks are so sensitive about claiming that Natty when you know full well it would not hold water in the current environment. While I have no problem putting the Sooners in the Big 4 of CFB's since say the first Rose Bowl I do think the Kentucky win was legit. if you claim otherwise, you are no better than the Tide fans and climbing a few more Natty's than they should.

So which NCs should Alabama not claim?

I agree on 1941, but they don't claim 66 (and they should), so it's kind of a wash.

What other one?

That 1966 really stinks. Alabama was 2-time defending NC, and was the only school to go undefeated and untied that year, as well as win their bowl game.

The only reason why Alabama was not NC was bias against the south at that time.....

I bet most of those Sooners have never even seen the inside of an OU classroom either.

Academically they’re no better and no worse than most SEC schools.

Meh...... not this year. The SEC has been hi key awful for quite some time now. Bama (with special guest appearances from 7SU and the Barn) has been the only thing keeping the SEC relevant the past 7 years or so.

This year OU would sleepwalk through the SEC East (UGA would be a toss up) and they’d be competive with Bama and Auburn for the west.

The AP and Coaches were still awarding before the bowls then. You're holding OU to a separate standard from everyone else.

Not sure who is the bigger dimwit here: you for contradicting yourself in one short paragraph or me giving you the time of day by responding to it. I'm leaning toward me since I should know better.

So, either first, or a possibility of fourth in the SEC.
(Or somewhere in between)

I'm really hoping Iron Balls is one of you guy's alter accounts. No one in this thread (except TideFaninFl) appears to be THAT stupid.
