Looks like Ducks and USC are interested in him and just curious if he’s got the sauce. Top 10 in a lot of qb categories.

Ward has a lot of empty stats imo. I’ve seen him play a lot over the years. Looks like Ohio State wants him how fitting.
Unrelated , but do you think Arch stays if Ewers comes back ?

Yeah 95% chance he stays. He brought a lot of guys with him in last years class. Murphy will probably enter the portal here soon.

I guess neither school wants to recruit a HS QB again, because that's how you turn off HS coaches

You could do much, much worse. I think he’d be very good at Oregon.

Seems like he’d fit our scheme being mobile with how we run our offense. Bo Nix wasn’t very mobile. Checkdown King that couldn’t check down well enough in the big games lol.

There was an OU fan on the MSB that said the backup and an incoming freshman were much better than him so they were happy to see him go

The recruiting landscape must be so wild now for these programs. The time and effort to get these hs kids with threat that in 1-2 years no matter how well you do , they could be gone. So many QBs with 1-2 losses from top programs transferring lol. They want the bag I get it but at some point , the money will get so big I feel like the smaller schools without big budgets will never be able to compete again.

Gabriel is a really good college QB. Not a great pro prospect due to his height and he is a bit inconsistent in his accuracy.
Great teammate and leader, deceptively quick and a good runner. Amazingly strong for a 200 pound guy.
One thing about Gabriel at OU is that he didn't have great talent around him. OU's guys were at least above average, and in a few cases very good. But if he goes somewhere where they have a really good RB and a dominant receiver and TE like they have at Oregon... he might be more effective.

Makes sense , good look. We always have the athletes for offense. Just need to figure it out on the defensive side of the ball to take it to the next level. But solid analysis. I have heard qualms about his height. But we will see if ducks actually do end up getting him. If they want him , I’d think they would pry him away from USC with money. Bo nix backup is trash and they know that and need a qb to compete next year right away.

He is a great college QB. Gutsy. Great human being. Team player, he will teach your other QBs too so its like having an extra qb coach. To give an idea of his character he came in and bonded with Drake Stoops, and when he gets married wants Drake as best man. Just a super great person your fans will love that about him.
His only weakness is passes past 30-35 yards. He does not have an NFL arm. He can/will make the long throw attempts however most will be underthrown. It can help if defender doesn’t turn head either get a flag or wr slows down to catch. But instead of passing in stride for TD you will get flag or if complete wr will be down. So in a weird way it still works more than not.
The great news is everything less than 30-35 yards he is deadly accurare. He will stand in pocket or run if needed. That Tx game last play - he stood in pocket and waited and threw the game winner to back corner of EZ just as 2 players were getting to him. Because of his experience he has great composure.
If he goes to Ducks he will be in the Heisman running. He will break some all time passing records too.
Ironically I think he is not following Lebby to MS for 2 reasons.
One, his NFL grade was not as high as he wanted so another year might help.
Two, by going to a new place under a different OC - this could show to NFL how he can go anywhere and excel. Following Lebby is just more of same. MS is not playoff ready so they will get less press and as we all know that hurts Heisman chances. But go to Ducks and do great would show his versatility.
I’ll root for the kid just not if we play his new team. Classy all around.

Brock Vandagriff would be good at Oregon I think. But looks like he’s going to Kentucky

While this is a great point. It must be pointed out that Gabriel is weird in that he can throw the ball as hard as anybody. He just can't throw it far.

As an outsider looking in, he was definitely one of the biggest contributing factors to their rebuild being ahead of schedule this year. OU had an insane turnover of talent when Riley left, and he kept them in a lot of games in 2022 and straight up willed them to victory in several games this year which culminated in them going 10-2 after losing 7 games the year before. As well as OU played in the RRS this year, there's no way they win that game without his performance and late-game heroics
Don't think he'll be a starting NFL QB, but he's a very good and dynamic college quarterback.

I disagree with this take. Dillon is a very talented quarterback and appears to be a high character individual as well. Jackson Arnold is going to be an excellent QB going forward but Dillon is so much more experienced right now.
What you saw from Dillon this year is pretty close to his ceiling. His limitations are pretty clear at this point. He underthrows deep balls at times due to arm strength. He struggles to see the middle of the field at times likely due to height. He is a steadying leader for the team though and will never get too high or too low. He can be very accurate most of the time and he is sneaky fast. When he is being decisive and playing with confidence he's very hard to stop.
My understanding of his transfer decision is that he didn't like his draft grade and wasn't invited to the combine. It makes all the sense in the world for him to transfer and be a 1-year rental for someone needing a good QB. There are a lot of teams out there that will pay him much better than Oklahoma wants to. Most sooner fans had already expected Dillon to be gone after this year and are ready to move on to the highly regarded freshman.
I think it would be a win-win situation for Oregon if they landed Dillon.

Ya the Ducks have a good plug and play offense for him it appears based on what he did last year and the type of QB he is, they might just be a rent a QB team going forward. Just need defensive guys, I'm never worried about the offense ha. Good insights though.

Good QB, a warrior, and a leader of men. He'll do well in Oregon.
