Absolute scam of a rivalry, only reason Bama gives a shite is because they get to play on of the worst teams in the conference every year.

Well then let’s throw out UT/UA and keep UF/GA

West:
Tennessee
LSU
Mississippi State
Ole Miss
Texas A&M
UK
Arkansas

East:
Florida
Georgia
Alabama
Auburn
South Carolina
Missouri
Vandy

I don’t neccasarily think that’s any better, do you?

The SEC leaders need to quit being giant pussies and move to 9 conference games.

Drop one of the cupcakes and add an SEC game. It’s fair for everyone. Don’t be scared of competition.

I think it would be great if everyone just had 4 rivals they played every year and rotate the rest. I would pick Georgia, Tennessee, Auburn and LSU. That may not be fair, so you would probably need a committee to make sure someone didn't always have an easier road than others.
Four might work, but 3 would probably be better if we're going to stay with an 8 game schedule--with 3 permanent opponents, and 10 that you rotate, that means that you can play half the rotating opponents one year, and the other half the next, playing everyone home and a away in a four year span.

I'd set the 3 permanent rivals up to be something like this:

Bama: Auburn, State, UT
Arkansas: Mizzou, A&M, LSU
Auburn: Bama UF, UGA
Florida: Auburn, UGA, USC
UGA: USC, UF, Auburn
Kentucky: Mizzou, UT, Vandy
LSU: A&M, Ole Miss, Arkansas
Ole Miss: State, LSU, Vandy
Miss. State: Ole Miss, Bama, USC
Missouri: Arkansas, A&M, UK
South Carolina: UGA, UF, MSU
Tenn: Vandy, UK, Bama
A&M: LSU, Arkansas, Mizzou
Vandy: UK, UT, Ole Miss

I like that system but there is no chance in hell LSU chooses A&M over UF as a permenant rival

They are not set in stone. However, I think it highly unlikely that it would play out the way you suggest--LSU apparently looked into the possibility of jettisoning Florida as their Eastern divisional rival when A&M joined the league. LSU has only played Florida 8 times more than they've played A&M. I'm assuming that geography would play a large role in determining the matchups, and competitive balance would be considered, too--Auburn, UGA, and LSU would be a bit overbalanced for Florida.

Edit: You posted yours while I was typing that. Auburn's desire to reunite with old rivals has been of the things driving this. They've played Florida 83 times--18 times more than LSU despite only playing 3 times since 2002.

I’m just telling you that LSU and the fan base care A LOT about the Florida game now. It is by far the biggest game of the year in terms of rivalry. Obviously bama is a big game because they are always in the top 4 when we play them, but Florida as a team is the game we care about

Same reason we want to keep LSU in the same division.

Fair enough. Just remember, when these things get hashed, nobody gets everything they want--except Bama.

I agree. As much as LSU fans have griped about playing Florida, esp when we were rolling, I guarantee you if the SEC office said they were switching Fla with someone else LSU would say no.

Florida will get everything they want if it ever comes back around. We gave up a big rivalry when we took one for the team and gave up our Auburn game. So did Auburn. They were our oldest rival and I think we were their 2nd oldest rival.

They are the closest school in proximity to Gainesville.

Fair enough but in that system we are giving auburn their 2 favorite rivals, so I think they can afford to keep not playing UF

The thing is ten years from now that could be totally flipped. You can't predict how good teams will be years down the road.

Not that long ago Florida and Tennessee completely dominated the east and the west has been won by Arkansas twice.

I said something has to give. Georgia and Auburn would burn Birmingham to the ground before they allowed UGA/AU to not happen.
