More than 2011, 2017, or 2021? I don’t think so just because Michigan rolled them earlier

Alabama vs LSU/Georgia does not carry the same prestige as Michigan vs Ohio State.

There are two major rivalries in college football that outclass the others. “The Iron Bowl” and “The Game”.

I’m pulling for Ohio State big time but I think UGA blows them out like they did Tennessee.

USC and Texas were ranked 1&2 preseason and went that way the entire year. There was no doubt who had the best 2 teams in the country. It was the Rose Bowl in California.

The third highest ranked game was 2009 Texas-Alabama at 31 Million.

Those are the only 3 games that have had more than 30 million viewers.

I always wonder why college sporting events lag in viewership compared to other events.

The Superbowl usually draws 100 Million or more TV sets and boxing matches draw in well beyond that and go global.

Well, "halfadolla50" says there's no debate, so let's just shut the thread down.

It'd make the announcers and sportscasters go nuts. Ohio State and Michigan live mostly on reputation alone. They get listed pre-season along with others in similar fashion - Notre Dame, Texas, Southern Cal, Oregon, etc. They rarely live up to the hype, especially once they face a top SEC team in a major bowl game.

I think UGA capitalizes on the opportunity to beat both Big Ten teams in the CFP. That would certainly put an exclamation point on this season's accomplishments for them.

Probably although everybody complains when there's a 2 SEC team rematch. The hypocrisy will be on full display.

No dog in the hunt. Ohio St vs Michigan would be a little interesting because of the rivalry angle...but I think it'll end up being Georgia vs TCU...and be one of the lowest rated championship games ever.

This is the delusional nonsense I’ve put up with from Buckeye fans here in Ohio for the past 30 years. There would be no debate bc no one outside of Ohio and Michigan even remotely thinks that’s true. It’s both a delusional and comical statement at the same time.

If OSU had not lost to Michigan I would agree but that 2011 was a huge build up.

Because the dumbasses at ESPN keep scheduling the championship game for Monday night. They should play the championship on Fri or Sat especially if an 8pm EST kickoff.

It’s been the number one most viewed game of the regular season for 14 straight years… but keep banging your sister, maybe that will help you sleep at night

We have seen it already. Everything college football does not revolve around these two schools from the Midwest. It will be huge in the Midwest, but meh everywhere else. For all the talk of SEC arrogance, Michigan-OSU “the Game” delusions achieve a level of fan hubris that cannot be touched.

WTF? Some of you Pug doggies need to get out of your trailers and start facing REALITY! Winning 1 Natty doesn't give you an all-access pass to be stupid. o$u and Michigan is a sacred Institution of Time. It's the greatest rivalry in the history of ALL sports since the birth of our great Nation!

Look at the Nielson Ratings, dude....17.1 MILLION motherfukkers watched o$u and Michigan play this year. That's over SEVENTEEN MILLION folks tuning in, many of whom just want to see VIOLENCE! Sorry, Pug Doggies, but ya'all need to take a back seat here and respect the B10 Conference!

Let me put it this way, because I want to help all these Georgia fans understand the magnitude of 17 MILLION people...you could have your coach Kubby Smart, your Unga dog mascot, a midget, and Nick Satan's dirty-butt wife on the 50 yard line of your Sanford & Son stadium having an in-depth 4 way, complete with crazy positions and reverse cowgirl and produce items to ram in places (and broadcast at the same time as o$u & Michigan)...and yet more people would still tune in to watch o$u and Michigan play The Game!

I've wondered what OSU fans would hate less -- an blowout loss to Georgia in the semis, or a last second loss to Michigan in the NC game?

If given the choice, I assume they'd choose the former every time, right?

Correct.

And with our best receiver and top two running backs out, that's the more likely outcome.

First will clarify that I don’t think OSU beats Georgia, but if it were to happen, would it be the most hyped National Championship of the BCS/Playoff era?

I'd be rooting for Michigan. In fact I'm rooting for Michigan no matter the opponent.

Alabama and LSU weren't playing top four teams in the build up to their game.
