Ole Miss has always been like that. It's a place where women go with the hopes of finding a husband from wealthy stock.
Pretty low chance of that happening, since the average OM grad can look forward to the lowest salary out of all SEC schools.

Per capita Ole Miss really does has a lot of good looking women. The girls I know really fit the stereotype: hot, didn't get into LSU (not saying this is always the case), and pretty loaded. they're not in high earning majors, so it's not like they're going to make bank

Athens

Nashville
Baton Rouge
Everywhere else sucks pretty bad. I had much greater expectations of Gainesville, but it sucked

Outside of Dickson and the square, Fayetteville is average. The fall and the hills are cool but come on
lol so other than the main part of the town or the outlying beauty, in your opinion it's average ......gotcha

I lived in NWA for a while. I'm in Central Arkansas now. I do think Fayetteville is a great town, but it gets overstated by many Arkansas folks.

That's one stereotype I'll never get. How did OM get the "school with money" attitude and label? Is it something from way back? Because anyone who knows anything realizes the opposite is true

Ole Miss was founded prior to the Civil War. Many of the wealthy planters sent their sons there. This was when Natchez was the third wealthiest city in America. So I'm sure you can imagine where the attitude began. It exists at Alabama and Georgia for the same reasons, but has waned over the decades since for a myriad of reasons.

Offseason Thread: Rank the SEC college towns
IMO Nashville, Knoxville, Baton Rouge, and Columbia (SC) are not college towns b/c they are too big.
Wouldn't disagree with that. Lexington too maybe.
If we go by that criteria, then I'd go
Athens, Auburn, Oxford, Tuscaloosa, Fayetteville, College Station, Columbia, Starkville, Gainesville. But all of them have good points....

While that maybe true, most of the OM bound girls I grew up with went there with the primary motivation to enhance their social status and find a guy from a well heeled family name that was politically connected. This isn't exclusively true by any means, but it fits the MO that many of the alumni are very proud to exhibit.

All Ole Miss, all the time. You should really start charging rent for the space we take up in your head.

I feel like I can give a fairly good answer, as I have been to every SEC school in the Spring not during a football weekend, so you get much more of what the campus actually is(except Mizzou, they dont have a men's tennis team). I would rank as such:
1: Athens: clear cut number one
2: Fayetville: This would be the obvious #2, but I feel like some people are ranking it without actually going. People who have it ranked low have never been there IMHO
3: Ole Miss
4: Auburn
5A Tuscaloosa
5B Columbia
7 Lexington
8A Baton Rouge
8B College Station
10: Gainesville
11: Starkville
12: Knoxville
Didnt rank Nashville. It is just too different.
