It's the oldest play in the book and for the most part it has served us well. You're up by four scores, the clock is your best friend. Sure you can run it up, but sure as you do somebody breaks a leg in the endzone and you're forever questioned for ruining a WR's career when the game was clearly in control, etc etc etc.
