Most of them are terrible.
They are, but these budget airlines went so deep on a race to the bottom I won't fly on them even for short trips anymore.
Sad when United and American are considered "good" airlines, at least compared to Southwest/Spirit/Frontier.

If you think 'Southwest is terrible', be thankful it is not "Spirit"!
I'd take a Spirit flight before Southwest 7 days of the week. That wasn't the case 5 years ago, but Southwest is rock bottom in 2024.

You've had no problem with SONIC for the last two decades which is based in OKC.
Sonic is our chosen spot to be as trashy as we want to be. I’d never want it to be an official representative of the conference.

They think we unironically go to sonic?

1. Southwest is a shite heap right now, with their CEO facing immense pressure to step down, and their multitude of bad press clippings recently. SWA doubled the CEO’s salary on the heels of one of the worst meltdowns in modern aviation history. 2. They’re a budget airline. 3. They’re headquartered in Texas. I don’t like any of those things when they are being called “The Official Airline of the SEC.”
This pilot gets it.
They don’t even have assigned seating for the love of god. It’s like a cow shoot.

That bama @ Wisconsin SWA flight doesn’t even fly into Madison. It flies into Milwaukee which is an hour and a half drive from Madison… Delta and American both opened nonstops from BHM to MSN that are even cheaper the last I checked.

Thankfully, down here in MIA, there are numerous airline options despite the airport's shortcomings, offering better airline/flight choices.

I’m ok with this as I live out here in LA and Delta, AA, & United’s prices have gone bonkers trying to get back home to Nashvegas & the ATL . Although Southwest is also creeping up there in cost too. Too bad hitchhiking went out of style in the late 70’s

A single-wide with wheels that dissappear, big-titted ol gals with good personalities for hostesses, and a cattle chute for a loading mechanism.
Sounds about right.

Besides, I think Spirit is the official airline of the MEAC and SWAC.

Yep. There'd be an "official lutefisk of the SEC" if somebody threw enough $$$$

Dining during a Spirit flight can definitely add a touch of luxury and relaxation to air travel.

quote:Spirit? Not sure I'd go that far, but Southwest is just a shell of what it once was. Idk about the 80's, but in the 90's Southwest was king of the cheap airlines. Whatever they lacked in amenities (and legroom) was somewhat made up for by pretty flight attendants and pilots with a sense of humor.

Southwest used to be pretty good back in the 90's, but since 9/11 all domestic airlines have gone to shite.
I haven't flown since the 90s, but I flew Southwest back then for private flights and the others for military flights and it all seemed the same to me.
You are trying to compare 90s to 2010-20s.It is a lot different now than back in the 90s.
