That’s like setting the bar really high for Freeman to impress you, and cutting BK a lot of slack in his bar to impress.
Shouldn’t they be equal-ish?
Seems like I am setting the bar too low if all I am expecting is for Freeman to have a 2nd season of playoff contention to just match the level of Kelly's success at Notre Dame when the headlines from the very first post of this thread are:
Marcus Freeman Is Doing What Brian Kelly Couldn't at Notre Dame: Building a True Power
Marcus Freeman is taking Notre Dame football to another level. The Irish win big games now.

You didn’t hear the ND talk from the On3 guy, “everything you saw in December was ND win the big game.” The national media really is pushing it.

Which two loss team did they face in this "big game"?

It doesn’t matter dude, they got to the post season. They beat common opponents you lost against. Turn your wheels all you want.

I mean if you're going to say they win "big games" now, it actually does matter.

In 2024-25, Freeman and Notre Dame had a better single season than Kelly and LSU.
Freeman did not achieve some level that Kelly did not achieve at Notre Dame. Notre Dame is in no different a situation than it was in the last few years of Kelly.
Kelly is easy to dislike and Freeman is easy to like. All the sports media had to do was let things play out naturally instead of overselling Freeman and everything about Notre Dame's success in the 2024 season.
The national sports media are doing a disservice to Freeman by playing him up so much and claiming he is so much better than Kelly and doing things Kelly couldn't do.

Dunking on Bama morons is my guilty pleasure.

Don’t be intellectually dishonest like Sidewalk.
Freeman: 1-0 in semifinal playoff games, 0-1 in NC games in 3 seasons
BK: 0-2 in semifinal playoff games, 0-1 in NC in 20+ seasons
Heck, he can’t even win a NY6 bowl game but you guys are downing Freeman’s playoff wins using those same bowls…lololol
Sidewalk loves to talk about the losses to NC teams, but what about the losses to teams that didn’t win the NC, like 10-4 Virginia Tech…hahahaha

So your stance is that 2020 Bama is equal to 2024 Penn State.
Nice.

How dare BK not beat 10-4 Virginia Tech with a G5 team?
How dare he?

Level achieved by Freeman: Loss in National Championship game to more talented team in 3rd season.
Level achieved by Kelly: Loss in National Championship game to more talented team in 3rd season.
Where is the dishonesty?

interesting fact. The Cincinnati Bearcats have as many college football playoff appearances as the LSU Tigers.

It really is something that Kelly kickstarted there.
They had never won more than 8 games in a season prior and BK never won less than 10 games there.

I hate to say this but I believe Kelly makes the playoffs this year. Great QB, good coach and picked up a ton of talent in the portal and have recruited well every year.
Is what it is, if I'm wrong, I'll own it.

Luke Fickell > Brian Kelly

I wouldn't take Fickell over Kelly at this point. Kelly had a much better win percentage at Cincinatti and Fickell is only .500 at Wisconsin.
