quote:
He told the fans multiple times to judge him by his results in year three and that's starting to seem like a massive mistake.
This blog says that, where are the actual quotes though?
Perhaps the whole thing started with this blog.

"Year 3 is a level of accountability in every program that I've taken over, that is heightened," Kelly told CBS Sports at the SEC Media Days on Monday. "There's a trust factor and an accountability level within our process that pops, if you will, and that's this year."
"This will be the deepest team that we've had," he said. "I don't know what that's going to be relative to the expectations. … I can tell you in Year 3, I've had really good success with getting our football team to be the most accountable, trusting team that I've had here at LSU.
"That's usually been pretty good at my other stops."

This is very different than "Judge me on Year 3."
I'm not saying he didn't say it, I've just never been able to find that quote and people bring it up a lot.

He did set himself up on that one, had he not hired Matt House then 2023 would have been a playoff year for sure and this isn’t a conversation. But he did and it wasn’t so here we are. 2024 was always going to be a bit of a rebuilding year and they chose not to be aggressive in the portal.

This is the quote that I think is constantly being misinterpreted.

did he say judge me in year 3 ?
We have BK on a 10-year contract, you fell for that pagan mumbo jumbo, not my problem. I concluded entering 2024 that we were good enough to make the playoff with an at-large, had we not blown the USC, A&M, and/or Florida games, we are in but that's life in college football.

They gave him an extension the year before he left.
In spring 2020 LSU gave Ed Orgeron a 6 year $42 million contract extension.
In fall 2021 LSU gave Ed Orgeron a $17 million buy out.
Has this been mentioned?

So many fans held him accountable, and he ended with his worst record at LSU.

That isn't the "accountability" he's talking about.
He's talking about building such a good team culture that by year 3, the players are holding each other accountable to do the little things right and have trust in each other and the coaching staff, which theoretically should lead to success.
This has happened at all of his previous stops, didn't happen at LSU obviously.
I'm not so sure that works any longer with all of the roster turnover year to year, however.
That quote has nothing to do with the fans holding him accountable for year 3 or him asking them to judge him based on year 3.
Posted on 6/5/25 at 1:59 pm to SidewalkTiger
You’re arguing semantics. He also didn’t say to not hold him accountable on Year 3.
