No I do understand it. You are describing every non self employed person.

The players who have a market for their skills outside of the NCAA out of high school are only going to be there a year.
Arkansas is on their 6th HC since 1998.
Auburn is on their 4th since 1999.
Florida is kn their 4th since 2005.
Georgia is on their 2nd since 2010.
Kentucky is on their 3rd since 2003.
LSU is on their 2nd since 2005.
Ole Miss is on their 5th since 2005.
MSU is on their 4th since 2004.
Missouri is on their 3rd since 2001.
USC is on their 3rd since 2005.
Tennessee is on their 7th since 1992.
Texas A&M is on their 3rd since 2012.
Vandy is on their 5th since 2002.
That doesn't get into all of the assistants.

Ok?
Where do you think the point guard for clemson is going to generate an overall compensation for his basketball skills similar to what he is receiving from clemson.

Ok so you want to discuss the elite of the elite.
Why the silence from zion? Why the silence from Cade Cunningham?
The elite of the elite are getting compensated number 1. Number 2. They understand the value of the opportunity with their exposure. Zion was the 5th rated kid coming out of high school. Elite for sure but he wasnt even the highest rated kid. In basketball circles people knew his you tube stuff yeah. But do you think he is getting the crazy high million dollar endorsements right off the bat without his year at duke? Heck no.

Here's a novel idea - If you don't like the set up, DON'T PLAY NCAA SPORTS! Pay for your own school, or pick up a trade, or enlist, or whatever and join the work force like the other 99.99% of Americans.
Don't sign up to do something, when you know all the pros and cons, and then incessantly complain about the cons like a little bitch.
I swear, you bleeding heart liberal tards act like these people were forced at gun point to choose this route for their lives. Guess what, I steer my kids towards education and entrepreneurship, and AWAY from trying to make a living off some nonsense like sports.
This is just like AOC's dumb arse thinking the buggy pushers at Wal-Mart deserve $1M per year because Wal-Mart makes billions annually off their "hard" work. You want the billions? Start your own company and turn it into the next Wal-Mart. Or start a new venture that takes over what the NCAA does. Just quit whining and playing the victim. That is NOT the way to becoming successful. Everyone wants the money, but no one wants to put in the work required to get it.
Now get the Hell off my lawn!

“We crafted the term student-athlete,” Walter Byers himself wrote, “and soon it was embedded in all NCAA rules and interpretations.” The term came into play in the 1950s, when the widow of Ray Dennison, who had died from a head injury received while playing football in Colorado for the Fort Lewis A&M Aggies, filed for workmen’s-compensation death benefits. Did his football scholarship make the fatal collision a “work-related” accident? Was he a school employee, like his peers who worked part-time as teaching assistants and bookstore cashiers? Or was he a fluke victim of extracurricular pursuits? Given the hundreds of incapacitating injuries to college athletes each year, the answers to these questions had enormous consequences.
Dayum.
I am curious about one thing and don't feel like reading this whole thread.
If student-athletes did get paid, wouldn't Title IX require that all student-athletes, both male and female, get compensated equally?
In other words, the ladies on the womens rowing team would need to be paid as much as the football players make.
I don't know the answer but just throwing it out there.

Yeah dude. Sure. Nothing good has ever come out of people “complaining” or wanting change of something that is inherently inequitable.

Probably the same amount. Ae you under the impression that pro sports would stop having a draft and signing new players?
I am under the impression that more than a couple kids get noticed by pro-team execs through exposure on tv rather than those teams sending a scout to watch every single game not on tv.
Are you under the impression players send newspaper clippings about their achievements on field?

They will still take the same number of kids. They may take different kids, but it will be the same number.

You're wrong, but that's a longer conversation. Most complainers, protesters, rioters, whatever, want to start at the wrong end. They start at the end result instead of waaaay upstream where the real problems stem from. You want to fix problems? Find the root, start there, work downstream. But again, that's hard work and doesn't secure a lot of votes.

quote:So how would you advise student athletes who believe they should receive better compensation to go about that change? If they shouldn’t use their platform to seek change (or complain as you see it), what do you suggest?

Any number of platforms are open to them including social media, traditional media, protesting before or after games.

they shouldn’t use their platform
The games aren't "their platform"
They represent the school and the entire team during tournament games.

The NCAA makes billions off of the tournament and the players see none of it. Why don't you go work for free while making someone billions and see how you like it.
This is why stupid shite keeps happening. Dumb people who think they understand the system, but really don't.
The NCAA does NOT make money. The NCAA is made up of it's member schools, and those numbers are just the total among all schools. At best the NCAA may collect and distribute back to the schools like with basketball. In football, the organization isn't even involved in that.
And what's being ignored are all the expenses all those schools have, which in most cases is MORE than what they make.
Even then, there is never any profit. Any extra money that is generated is used for other sports.
Which is why even the top programs rely on millions of dollars of donations each year to stay ahead.
Meanwhile, fricking idiots see these kinds of numbers and pretend like it's all profit for some group of people.

This is a dumb take. They would have a draft, but they would do so based on limited information and it would reduce the opportunities for those who don't fall in that net.
