A rivalry needs to be within the same state or share a state border.

For the love of God, you people should know this.

Oklahoma is in no way a natural rival of LSU.

LSU not having an iconic rivalry week matchup is the price you pay for being the only major conference team in your state.

IF the SEC does go to a 9 game regular season conference schedule, LSU-OU might be the game for rivalry week. The only other option would be LSU-Arkansas, as other posters have noted. Just go through the match ups that will be played on final Saturday:

Bama/Auburn
Texas/Texas A&M
Ole Miss/Miss. State
TENN/Vandy

UGA/GA. Tech
SCAR/Clemson
UK/Louisville
Florida/FSU

So that leaves, LSU, OU, MIZZOU and Arkansas.

So if you keep Arkansas/MIZZOU, LSU gets OU, if you return OU/MIZZOU (both old Big 8 and Big12 matchup) then LSU gets Arkansas.

No because LSU thinks it's too big for the rivalry, which at this point is kind of funny.

At this point LSU fans have more of a rivalry with Brian Kelly, which team is going to show up week to week.

Kelly, like all other LSU rivals though doesn’t even notice, his one true rival will always be winds over 50 miles per hour.

Correct, Tulane is doing what other schools like Duke, Vandy and Northwestern have done, hire good coaches put money in football program and facilities. They are good and did something that LSU could not do, beat USC (a better USC team than the one we lost to this year) with Caleb Williams.

There are enough 3 star recruits in LA HS football that Tulane can sign and develop into excellent football players with some turning out to be NFL draft picks. I think LSU does not want to give them a chance to have a bigger impact than what they have had the last 5 years or so.

Had Tulane never left the SEC, LSU and Tulane would be playing the last week of the year and that would have the feel of a natural rivalry.

It has been a frustrating year, at times this team looks like it can beat anyone in the country then at times totally inept.

all true but there’s a bigger issue..

LSU can have 1 of these teams as a perm
Arkansas
Ole Miss
..
Miss State, TN, V, KY, SC, Missouri

Why? Because I think the goal is for the 8 big schools to have 2 big school rivals and 1 smaller school rival.

Why is TN in the bottom group? Idk. Maybe because they have sucked for a large part of the last 10 years..

All 16 teams played 4 from the big school group this year.. and 4 from the small school group..

So if LSU wants Arkansas as a perm, they would have to give up Ole Miss.. and they aren’t doing that..

So that is why imo..

No the series record is OU winning most of the time 91-20-7 we dont need to play the Sheep frickers anymore.
I'm thankful we are playing a name brand this year with it being LSU. As far as the future goes we will see who falls in place as a rivalry game.
